DS1 starts K a week from tomorrow and I *think* I'm doing ok. He's been in full-time daycare & preschool all this time, and he's so ready for K. But there's the element of him getting on a bus and being in a building where I don't have daily interactions with his teachers that I'm anxious about.
Today was our first day, and the only reason we didn't miss the bus was because we have the same driver as last year, so he stopped at our house when he saw us outside. (our stop is actually about 1/4 mile down the road).
Ooops.
DS started second grade. DD started the pre-K room at daycare today, but H did drop off, so I'm not sure how that went.

This is our 4th week. Why does Mississippi start so early? So far, he is LOVING it which makes me so happy. I love seeing him excited to head out every morning. Even more, I love seeing him so excited to see me at pick up. The running leap bear hug is the highlight of my day.
I dropped little bit off for her first day of daycare this morning. THAT I can't talk about. ::sobs::
DD starts 1st on Tuesday next week, and is super excited. We should be getting the letter with teacher assignment today, and then her teacher will visit our house briefly Wednesday evening and we'll see her classroom at open house on Thursday.
We have a new principal this year too, and he seems really excited and proactive.
Well, I was up from 2:00-5:00 this morning with anxiety over DS2's first day of Pre-K at a new school. He's always going to be the one I worry over more regarding school because he's much less compliant than DS1. I'm trying not to get worked up about the super academic curriculum at his new school until I see how he likes it.

I just left the school nurses office. DD was knocked off one of the playground equipment. She has a nice goose egg starting and a bummed knee. So it's going splendid! It took almost a month before I was called. This is a new record,
Academically is going amazing. This school is a much better fit for her. She is adjusting well and making friends.
Sophia started K thursday, but she had one hour and then nothing friday. This week I am sending her all day long even though she is half day all week. Next week she will finally be FT. WTF school? She is super excited.
Anna also started thursday, and had half days thursday and friday, back to FT this week. She has been crying every night. She was always a very anxious kid and had a hard time with transitions but this is extreme even for her. I asked her why she is so upset and it is apparently because she really misses the stray dogs in my mom's village in Greece and will never see them again. I dunno. </3
K starts next week. I have the parents' meeting tonight, so hoping that will answer some questions and cut anxiety a bit for me (more on the routine change than whether C is ready). The daycare contract at our center ended Aug 28, so he's officially done with daycare. C is more upset that he has to spend this week among family instead of just starting his new school right away. And picture day is going to be on the 3rd day of school, that just feels really weird.

They've been in for 4 weeks, but they're doing a statewide assessment test today on kindergartners, so I'm curious to see what those results look like. I feel like he's where he should be, but who knows.

DD had hers two weeks ago. I'm also curious on what the results are. She's a horrible tester. She's in 3rd.
My older one starts next week. We are READY. She'll get her teacher assignment on Friday at 3 PM (LOL). The little one does not go back until Sept.17 and it's a drawn out process until she is there the full time without me. Then the older one comes home for 5 straight days for Popegeddon
Dd started last Tuesday, but she's in 5th grade now so it's old news to us. She decided she wants to do band this year so she will be bringing a flute home this week. Kill me now. Hopefully she likes it and is good at it. She's still trying to find something she enjoys doing AND that she is good at so I'm hoping this will be it. Which reminds me, I need to order her book today. She's already gotten in trouble for talking too much...3 days in. She is such a social butterfly and the complete opposite of me in that regard.

DS is still on the wait list for pre-k. The woman in charge assured me he would be placed by the first day (9/8), but I am still super anxious. I just want to know which school he is going to.
My son starts tomorrow (first day at his alternative high school - he's in 10th grade). He is nervous, but I think he feels good about starting there. I know, for a fact, that he would be a mess if he were headed back to his old school. Fingers crossed.
My daughter starts 8th grade and is way too cool for school. We have to be on her a bit more this year about tending to her academics. She has no problem doing the work - she's just not very motivated on her own. She is fine as far as nerves/social life go. I know she will have a good year.

My kids start after Labor Day. My oldest two start 4th and 2nd grade next Tuesday. My youngest starts PK4 next Wednesday, and DD2 starts K next Thursday. I am so very ready to get back to schedules and structure. I'm a little sad about this being our last year at our preschool, but I'm excited too.
Mine started last week but it was just half-days, today is their first full day of K. They had a couple of hiccups but I think by the end of the week, they were doing better behaviorally. It's really common to redshirt in our area and they are young, so it will just be an adjustment for a little while. They start their after-school karate program today and they are SO so excited. I'm a little nervous about them riding the bus but the school seems pretty organized about transportation, so hopefully they will make it!
My daughter started K last Wednesday and she likes it so far. She's is in a great public school, one website gave it a 9/10 and another gave it a 10/10 so I'm pretty happy.
DS1 doesn't go back until Sept 8. My anxiety is ramping up since we won't find out who his teacher is until the first day. But, he's excited about getting started again.
We preemptively met with Jack's teacher this morning and it went awesome. She is very structured which will be great for him. I walked away feeling very positive about the year.

That's such a feeling of relief.
I love Ethan's teacher with every fiber of my being. I fully believe that her supreme awesomeness is going to benefit him so much. A positive early school experience for all of us.
My gal started 1st on the 18th. So far, so good! They added a third 1st grade teacher, which means her class is only like 20 kids, so she's getting a lot of attention. This teacher wasn't our first choice, but we've been pleased so far. (And not just 'cuz my daughter has been topping the behavior chart regularly. Woo hoo!)
We chatted with her teacher at the back to school picnic last weekend, and she went on and on about how much she already enjoys our daughter in her class, how she can tell she's a strong student, yada, yada, yada. So I'm a proud mama bear.
I also love that we can use the valet drop-off line now, which is much easier for my husband since he often has our toddler, too.
Off to a rough start but David ended the week good. Actually, according to other moms I'm talking to, David is actually fairing very well. Two moms said their kids got red lights and one other friend (the friend who helped me get David into this school) said her son had to go to the headmaster for getting in trouble so much. Damn! And David was worried about one yellow light.
Sitting is a really rough adjustment for him. We're working through it, though. David tries so hard to be good, it makes me proud.
Lol, David told me "Lucy likes me. She said she thinks I'm cute and she loves my golden hair." LLLLOL. I love that she said golden hair! She sounds adorable.

Does your school offer stuff like wiggle seats or thera-bands to help with that?
Not that I know of. I'll ask about it because I know a lot of kids are having a hard time.
Ds gets to meet the teacher on Wednesday and then starts full time next Thursday. He's so excited and so am I. I hope it's not too hard on him. The plus side is that his friend from dc is going to the same school.

My kid doesn't do the running hug anymore. She plays it super cool and then koala bears me in the car.
I'm just going to pretend he will always want to publicly attack hug me. I've already cried enough today.
