Random HP share - my daughter made a toy for our dog while on a field trip to a local animal shelter. It is basically a tennis ball in a sock, with a rubber band securing the ball in place like a head. She drew a face on it with an oddly triangular-ish nose. It looked to me like Voldemort after the Tri-Wizard Tournament when he was dunked in the brewing pot in the cemetary. So I call it Voldemort. My daughter thinks it is a lot less funny than I do.
Except Merope was in love with Tom Riddle and would never have had an abortion. Sorry.
Exactly. She wouldn't have terminated her pregnancy because she wanted Tom Riddle Sr. to stay with her, but everything else is spot on. Lily had no reason to end her pregnancy.
But speaking of pregnancy in the wizarding world... it's noticeably absent from the books (although admittedly Harry as a narrator is pretty oblivious to a lot of what is happening around him), which brings up all sorts of random thoughts. Like, is there sex education at Hogwarts? Who teaches that? I'm hoping it's the nurse and not the responsibility of the head of house. Because I'm picturing some poor terrified first year Slytherin girl freaking out because she got her period for the first time and has to ask Snape for help. Does Snape teach students how to brew a contraceptive potion at some point in his potions classes? Or is that something they learn in charms? Is there some fetus deletus spell for any unplanned pregnancies? Wizarding society seems pretty conservative, and Lily and James Potter did marry and have Harry awfully young... are you coerced into marrying your partner if you get knocked up?
Clearly I've thought about this way too much. We're a bit Potter obsessed at my house at the moment.

I'm not so sure. She only wanted the pregnancy because she thought it would make Tom Sr. hang around after the love potion wore off. She thought he would do the honorable thing at the time and care for her, and eventually grow to love her too. He didn't.
I could see her growing to resent Tom Jr, maybe even hate him for not being good enough to make his father stay. I wouldn't be surprised if she abused or neglected him simply because of her background and lack of will to survive.
ETA: Nevermind that second bit. I forgot she died right after she gave birth.

I agree with your first paragraph. I think once she realized she had lost Riddle Sr. (which was while pregnant) she would have.
As for your second - I'm pretty sure she died within hours of Voldemort being born. Though she may have grown to be abusive for those reasons if she had lived.

I thought she died after birth too, but then I second guessed myself and thought she took him to the orphanage when he was a toddler.
I can't remember.
ETA: She stayed at the same orphanage and died after giving birth.
