My 10am meeting ended up being a 9:30am meeting and my next one doesn't start until 11a. I'm at our 2nd office (not my home base) so I can't really get into too much work. Therefore I decided to drive to Panera, sit in the parking lot and suck up their free wifi so I can waste time on here and on email. But the sun is shining and the weather is perfect which makes me think I should just skip my 11a meeting and work on my tan.
Have you played hookie recently? If you haven't, but daydream about it, what would you do with your day off?
I keep thinking that a hookey day is coming soon. Probably would be a trip to the zoo or the beach or something fun with annie when I am not exhaused from working.
I almost never play hookie. I have to take the kids to school every day and I figure if I am up, dressed, and 2/3 the way to work, I mind as well come in. Plus, I am a vacation hoarder.
I might have been known to call in sick or call in that one of the kids is sick if they don't have school. But that is more about lack of childcare than hookie.
Oh, and if I was going to....I would have a empty house all to myself so I could watch the morning news shows and then to go the mall/outlets to do a bit of shopping. I hare shopping, but I need some new stuff and shopping with 2 six year olds is not productive at all. Perhaps a mid afternoon rendezvous before picking up the kids and going to dinner.
I have a weird complex about fake sick days. It makes me so anxious it's almost not worth it. I've called in for several IUIs and other RE stuff so I also feel like I've burned that bridge for funner stuff. Like 2brides I hoard vacation and we do use a lot for seeing family and I am currently hoarding for maternity leave. But the idea of playing hooked and spending a gorgeous day on the beach sounds amazing!!
I use a lot of PTO for doctor's appointments, so I tend to not play hookie, although I'll take a half day sometimes for an early afternoon appointment. There's pretty much only one answer to what I do with that time - get a pedicure and then curl up with a good book. Already have plans to do that on Labor Day - I'm off and C's away.
