I don't usually do posts like this but I figure the more people praying and sending good thoughts can't hurt. My mom has a cyst on her neck and is having surgery today. Actually she's in surgery right now. She's really nervous because the mass is very close to her nerves. It's effecting the use of her arm and is painful. They won't know until they get in exactly where it is. If it is embedded in the nerves then they can't do anything and that's going to severely and negatively impact her daily life. If it just just next to or sitting on the nerves then they can remove it but it's risky because of all the nerves there. One wrong move and she loses the use of her arm and hand.
She's really nervous and I feel horrible I can't be there. It's workshop week at school and open house is tonight. It is mandatory we are here all week so my sister is at the hospital with her. I am done at noon tomorrow so I'll go up then and Friday I have off so I'll stay with her that day too. She's at the best hospital in town with amazing doctors so that's good.
Thank you everyone. I was kind of a mess this morning thinking of all the "what ifs" that could happen.
Just got word from my sister that she's out of surgery and it went well. The tumor was on the nerve but only connected by a small bit so they were able to separate it successfully and remove it. No permanent damage and no cut nerves!! She might even be able to go home today and originally they said not until Friday. She's still in recovery so my sister hasn't been able to go see her yet but will let me know more once she can. Thanks again everyone. Surgery is always so scary but this is the best outcome so I'm definitely giving thanks this morning! Whew, what a weight lifted off my shoulders!
