1. Did teething affect your LOs naps? Did you medicate (Tylenol/Motrin) occasionally during the day if naps were affected? C is teething (6 have passed the gums at the same time and slowly making their way in and it seems like maybe there is another tooth but I can't see for sure)...his second nap is bad and he seems restless for all sleep lately. I gave Tylenol yesterday and he finally took a decent nap.
2. We are going on a "normally" 8 hr road trip in 10 days. C is currently in his infant car seat. Should we use the convertible seat for the long drive or just KOKO with the infant seat?
luv2rn4fun - 1- I am a very liberal motrin user and definitely for naps. Whatever works if they are in pain! 2- If he is comfortable in his infant seat I would leave him. The only thing I'd worry about is getting overheated, since bucket seats are much more of an enclosure.
My question-
Spectra users - what after market stuff do I need to buy to make the Medela parts work? sillygoosegirl @astrid Brie

You just need the pisa tubing if you already have the other Medela parts.
luv2rn4fun, absolutely on the ibuprofen. AJ got it at bedtime when he was cutting his top teeth and incisors, and at naps and bedtime for canines and first molars.
If he's comfortable in the infant seat I'd have him ride in that.

I purchased my own back flow filters from Spectra, since I am using someone else's Spectra pump. Other than that, I needed to cut my Medela tubing (part is on each end of the back flow filter), and I needed about 2 inches of the Spectra tubing to attach the Medela tubing to the back flow filters on the flange side. Initially my friend didn't give me any of the Spectra tubing and I could not get it to work without that part.

Is baby orajel a no-no? I don't have a problem giving Motrin but hate to give it constantly and DD is having a lot of discomfort (and sleep issues) with her canines breaking through.
When do you start teaching babies to eat with utensils?
My kids have been eating table foods for almost 2 months now and it's of course a mess, so I was wondering when using utensils actually starts.
I think we did around a year. She is getting better at using the spoon but only rarely is able to fork anything and get it to her mouth. She is 17 months. Usually, she will attempt with the fork, stop using it but hold it with authority during her meal. It is pretty cute.

Anyone have tips for getting more comfortable taking their newborn (3wks) out of the house? So far we've been to the Chick-fil-A drive through. It's too hot for walks in the stroller and I guess I should be avoiding place with re-circulated air?

I did not avoid places with recirculated air, and DD never got sick until she started daycare. I found it easier to go places with my DH at first. Feed your baby before you go. Don't be afraid to cut a trip short if they get fussy, but also remember that a fussy baby in public isn't the end of the world either!
My question - does anyone know of the Graco Snap and Go stroller frame will work with a Chicco Keyfit infant car seat?
No, it only works with Graco seats. Chicco makes their own branded snap n go-type frame.
ETA - the Graco snap n go is actually called the snugrider or something like that and only works with Graco seats. Baby Trend makes the actual Snap n Go and I think it works with the Key Fit, but just buying the Chicco branded frame will save you a lot of hassle, plus it has a better basket.

The more you do it, the easier it gets.
I went everywhere starting at 5 days old. My 2.5yo still has yet to get sick.
I'm a big fan of going to Target. You can eat, and if you forget something, you can buy it.

This is a bit of a "just do it" situation. The more you go out, the more comfortable you will be. If it's below 90 I'd probably still do walks in the stroller as long as baby is dressed lightly. You can adjust the sun shade to keep sun off him/her.
A nursing cover helped DW to feel more comfortable nursing in public, and we always had a carrier with us (at first the Moby, but we got a ring sling around four weeks) because that would always soothe her if she got fussy. It was also much easier taking her out when it was both of us going.

Darn.
I have the Chicco double stroller, but thought a smaller snap n go type one would be easy for when I'm dropping off and picking up the kids from school. But I don't really want to spend $$$ on something I'll only use for a few months on kid #3. And a friend offered her old Graco frame, but I wasn't sure if they were compatible or not.

When do you worry about a baby not crawling? Like he doesn't even try at all. I know there can be a wide range on what's normal but when is it an issue of he's not pulling himself around or getting up on his knees? He's also more interested in standing so I think he might be one of those "walks before he crawls" babies. He's about 6.5 months now.

If it's any consolation the Graco one is terrible. Impossible to access the basket with the car seat in place.
Try Craigslist or OUAC, I've seen them both places.

Average is 7-10 months, so I definitely wouldn't be worried yet. If he's not mobile at all by his 9-month appointment I would mention it to the pedi, but I don't think it's too concerning until closer to a year.

I've had 2 friends whose babies didn't crawl. One walked at 9 months, the other a bit after a year. They are both totally normal toddlers now!

Just have to keep doing it. I didn't take my daughter out much to begin with. She screamed in the car for the first 2 months. She is so much better now. It gets easier. Promise.
I started with trips places close to my house or to family members houses.

Don't worry at all! My doctor said around 9ish months is completely normal. Also I've heard girls tend to do things a little faster then boys.
I have a friend whose son was the "walk before he crawls" type. Take advantage of him not being able to crawl yet.
When should I start introducing table food? What kinds of things do I start with? Do I give purees and table foods while she is learning to feed herself?
Dd is very interested in table foods. She gets mad when she sees me eating and I don't share with her.
luv2rn4fun Tagging you because I've been meaning to PM you about this anyway.

We started at around 8.5 months and did a mix of purees and table foods to begin with. Leading up to introducing table foods I had started giving them thicker/chunkier purees. Some of our first table foods were puffs, blueberries (cut in half), pear, peaches, carrots, squash, scrambled eggs and broccoli.

I started table food around 6 1/2-7 months. Started with avocado and banana. He's had sweet potato, squash, cheese, ground beef, ground turkey, meatballs, pasta, chicken, and peas. I still do a ton of purees and have to feed him his table food (he can't feed himself yet, although he does try). I say go for it if she's interested!

We started with puffs at 7 months. Once she was consistently mashing them up instead of just letting them dissolve in her mouth, we added in other soft foods. I continued with purees while feeding table foods, since it took awhile for her to get the hang of picking things up and putting them in her mouth, and like 8 puffs didn't seem like a proper meal.
