Where to get my jewelry appraised?

I need to get my e-ring and a few family items appraised. It's been way too long. One local place wanted my original paperwork (not gonna happen in this house), and Long's only does them on Mondays and wants to sit down with me to have an in-depth conversation. Other options?

Are you anywhere near Downtown? I know EB Horn does it, or you could always try the Jewelers' Building
