Mine just told me that he wasn't making the switch to metlife. Is this what people are seeing? I saw complaints on fb about not having providers in their area.
Also, does anyone know the OOP costs for someone out of network?I'm not finding it on their website.
I have to find a new dentist since the one I was seeing is no longer a preferred provider. A few weeks ago, they sent me a letter saying if I choose to continue going there, it will cost me $120 out of pocket just for the dental exam and cleaning.
I live in a small town and the 3 providers who are actually taking MetLife are no longer accepting new patients. So, I'll have to travel a bit. What a pain.

You are liable for anything the dentist charges over what MetLife will pay for a certain procedure.
Ex. Your dentist charges $300 for a cleaning. MetLife reimburses $250 for a cleaning (I have no idea what the real number is, but it's in the handbook). You are liable for the other $50. Also, the dentist doesn't have to bill MetLife. Some do, some don't. If yours doesn't you will have to pay the bill upfront, submit the claim yourself, and wait for reimbursement. Also, you have so sign a waiver allowing MetLife to pay the dentist directly if the dentist will bill MetLife.
I looked all of this up today because I want to take DS to my childhood dentist while I'm in NY later this month, and he is not a MetLife preferred dentist.

For the first time in my 31 years, I've found a dentist I like. I no longer shake like a leaf when going in for a cleaning. Figures that I'd get to see him for just 1 cleaning and the final stage of my implant.
I've emailed them to see what the cost is. They're so great they've been initiating emails with me with every step of this transition. I'd pay $120 to keep them, since I never need much besides a cleaning, but I want to know what I'm getting into.

That's what mine did. I am switching because they fucked up and didn't file the claim after my wisdom tooth extraction. I've been fighting with them for months to get it filed. I have a feeling UC is going to reject it because it was filed so late. They fucked me out of at least $500.
