He's always considered himself a Democrat. He was a huge HRC supporter. He can't stand Obama. He makes all kinds of incendiary Facebook posts talking about lazy people using the food stamps, unemployment, and public housing his tax dollars paid for. He thinks that America is becoming socialist under Obama. And he even spins the killing of bin Laden as "almost screwing up the killing of bin Laden."
He's also stated that he has always been planning to vote for Claire McCaskill's re-election, regardless of who the GOP nominated.
What I can't figure out (since I don't engage the crazy*) is why Obama is so much worse than HRC or particularly McCaskill. What positions are fellow Democrat McCaskill supporting in the Senate that are so much better than Obama's positions? Am I crazy to think that the guy really just doesn't like Obama because he's secretly kind of racist?
*I haven't asked him about this because his rants make no sense, no minds are going to be changed, and he's quasi-family, so I don't want to make waves with someone I see at large gatherings.
I'm not trying to accuse every person who doesn't like Obama of being racist. But I feel like his obsession with the welfare queen myth is racist code. I get preferring HRC and wishing she'd won the primary because you like her governing style more. I get preferring Romney because you like his policies more. I don't get supporting the majority of Democrats because you agree with their policies and then turning around and saying Obama is the worst president ever. Does. Not. Compute.
Angry - I feel ya. Like, I'm sure my FB friend isn't racist. But, Good LAWD the stuff that comes out of his mouth leaves me feeling like I need to wash the ick off of me. And you can't talk rationally to him to explain why the Welfare Queen mythology is racist or that all muslims aren't trying to create Sharia law. It's like some portion of his brain was infused with outright foolishness and it can't be corrected.

You might all shake your heads at me, but I had no idea the welfare queen stereotype was a race thing. I think of white people when I think of that stereotype.
Yankee - It could be a function of where you live I guess. Usually, the imagery is Welfare Queen = Black Woman in the Projects with a Huge Flat Screen TV and Skittles.

Yeah, I am sure that's right. I grew up in a town with literally 30% of the population on some sort of welfare and no black people. When I picture the ghetto queen, she's any woman with an iPhone and food stamps, regardless of color.

google image search for 'welfare queen' turns up quite the mixed bag of pictures that don't seem related at all. pg 1: 2 of Reagan, 2 Sarah Palin, 1 white woman with a solo cup in her cleavage wearing a BK crown, a professional woman who appears AA on c-span, 9 political cartoons/memes, 1 white grandma, 2 pics with black people who might be poor, 1 white woman, 1 Queen Latifah, 1 Nadia Suleman, 1 woman with what appears to be a giant facial tumor

As I was reading this post I was picturing "my" welfare queen, and she's white and living in The Projects (which, I don't actually know where these are in my city, to be honest), smoking cigarettes, with a preschooler with a bottle hanging out of the kid's mouth, buying junk food with her EBT. She may or may not be talking on a iPhone, but iPhones really aren't on my radar.
If I'm being perfectly honest, I feel like I'm the one actually being racist! Eww on me.
