I'm reading Sixty Days and Counting by Kim Stanley Robinson - it's the 3rd book in that climate change trilogy I've been working through - and listening to The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent, which is about a girl whose mother was one of those arrested in the Salem witch hunt.
QOTW: no, and I'm not even sure if they exist, but listening to NPR this morning has made me wonder.

I am reading the First Fifteen Lives of Harry August, by Claire North. It's okay. It's kind of like Kate Atkinson's Life After Life, but not as good.
QOTW: I've read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which is about a boy whose father dies on 9/11 and his experiences following. It's really good. I love all of Jonathan Safran Foer's books.

I finished a Kindle First romance last night, It's in His Heart by Shelly Alexander, which was fine by Kindle First standards lol. I tried another one last week and gave up after the first chapter.
I'm going to get back into Outlander with Echo in the Bone. But I also have Siblings Without Rivalry to pick up at the library, which I will probably go through first.
I am reading I am Pilgrim now. I just started it 2 days ago and it is good so far. I have Nora Roberts waiting in the queue.
QOTW: I read almost all of Nelson DeMille's books and he has many about terrorism (I think one of them is the lead up to 9/11 and then ends with the attacks).
I feel the same way- when I'm signing things today with the date, it makes me sad each time.
I just finished listening to A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny and liked it a lot. I am still plugging away at James Michener's Alaska, and given it's size I probably will be for a while. Originally I'd been hoping to finish it before my vacation there, but honestly I'm getting more out of it now that I've been there and fell in love with the place. I just started listening to Nora Ephron's Heartburn, and while the story is just 'ok' so far, I am loving the audio version because Meryl Streep is the narrator and she's fabulous.
QOTW: I have owned The Looming Tower:Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11 by Lawrence Wright for well over 5 years now but have not read it yet. On the fiction front, I recently finished A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner. One of the main characters lost her husband on 9/11.

I just finished Queen of Shadows, book four in the Throne of Glass series. So good! But it was too short, even at 600+ pages - lol. Now I have to wait a whole year for the next one!
Which reminds me - when is the next Outland due?
QOTD: I havent, but I have Extremely Loud and I credibly Close sitting in my kindle. Maybe I'll read it next....

This is good to know. I just got the first book in the series so I am glad to hear that you like it. Hopefully I will start it soon.

eclaires posted an article the other day that claims sometime next year.
IIOY, I didn't mean to scare you away from participating with the dual thread!
I wasn't scared away, I just forgot to copy what I posted in the other thread before it was deleted, and got lazy about posting here.
I'm reading Still Life by Louise Penny, a charming mystery set in Quebec that is perfectly timed because it's set in Autumn, with lots of discussion of yummy comfort food and pretty leaves and chilly weather.
QOTW: I started reading the official 9/11 report when it was first published, although I never finished it. TBH, I have no interest in books based upon 9/11. I feel like it has been shamelessly exploited for a thousand reasons and I'd rather keep my distance.

Late to the party as it's Sunday already here. I'm reading Miracle on 34th Street for the "a book set during Christmas" task on the Ultimate Reading Challenge. I needed something light, fluffy and ready to read. I'm enjoying it, it's a bit different the movie -- they were concurrent, so I am surprised they are not exactly the same, but it's fun and now I shall have to go see if I can't find a DVD of the movie somewhere because now I want to watch it.
QOTW: No. I have not and probably will not. With the 10-Year Katrina Anniversary and then the 9/11 Anniversary almost back-to-back, it's been a hard time for people with PTSD. I don't want to trigger anything else. I had a hard enough time with just the couple of Katrina things I happened to see. My BFF did her thesis work on Media-Induced PTSD and while the experts are still out on that, I know for a fact coverage can be a trigger for people already suffering form PTSD and constantly seeing the images can't be good for anyone. I feel very lucky to have been unable to get to a tv on the day and have avoid watching the footage since. I still have not see the footage of the towers.

I had to come back and comment because I LOVED this series. Like, I wish I could experience it for the first time all over again! I heard it was good from some GBCNer and had the sample in my kindle for more than a year without ever opening it. One day it came up on the kindle daily deals, so I bought it and I regret not reading it sooner! Now, there's not quite enough sex for my tastes (ie there's almost none), but it IS a YA series, so I guess I can't complain too much. Lots of violence, though. Check it out and let me know what you think!
