I got all the papers back for the divorce from the court. Inside was a certificate of dissolution. Can I use that to change my name on the drivers license or do I have to have a certified copy? I plan on getting the certified due to needing it for work and social security but wasn't sure if that would pass for the license. Thanks!

I don't know about your state but in VA you had to get a separate court order to change your name back. My lawyer filed for this at the same time as the divorce, but they were different papers and I had to take the one with the seal anywhere I wanted my name changed.
Yes also what verycontrary247 said. Although mine was all part of the paperwork in my state. But my lawyer had to include in it if I wanted to change my name and then that info was included on the divorce certificate.
Has anyone when back to their former name instead of their maiden name? I was married before and have 2 kids from that marriage plus I was single for 5 years. Everything since I was 18 is in my former name until I married in 2006. Where I live now no one has that name except for my kids and I want to go back to it. My current name is very distinct and I am changing it even though we have a child. I always get asked do you know one of the other 6 people with that name and I hate it.
