We're going to have a brawl. I see it coming. Because thus far, I'm having to put up with suggestions of revolutionary leaders like "Salvador." Because of the history! Um, yeah, history-schmistery. I'm worried Tupac Amaru is next.
I like more laid-back names that cross languages and have no historical baggage.
We're done with kids. A few of mine got vetoed, but the top of my old list were
Rachel Elizabeth Benjamin William Thomas Cate or Catherine
I am a complete traditionalist when it comes to naming lol
So am I. We look for names that sound the same in German and English, and most of those tend to be Biblical / traditional names.
If we have another girl she'll probably be Elizabeth, but with boys we have trouble. We both like traditional names, but different ones. DH likes Richard and Samuel (I hate them both for different reasons), I like Christopher and Alexander (he hates them because of associations). The only one we've found that we both at least find acceptable is Gideon, and I'm not wild about it. There might be a brawl over here, too.
ETA: I mean I am also a traditionalist, not I am also done with having kids. :-) I hope, anyway.
BFP1: DD born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w3d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence
Arabella Thais Maya Samantha Leilani Isotta Juliet Georgie Victoria
William Charles Damian Leonardo
These are some of the ones I'm currently obsessed with but I go through drastic changes so I might have a completely different set of favourites a month from now.
DH vetoed Sebastian for us too! And Oliver, which I love. And Duncan, which I also love.
I am 99% sure we are done, which makes me sad, but I still love baby names. I find girls names really hard though. I love Charlotte but it is too popular now.
For a boy, DH wants to give him his name (which is also his father and grandfather's name) and I said NO WAY!! This is something that is extremely common here and I will never understand it. It makes things so complicated! And they don't use Jr. or Sr. here so you never know who people are talking about... I did get him on board with Sebastian though. For girls, I like Amelia, Alejandra, Elisa or Elena.
Pubilus-I would DIE if I saw a baby named Walter. DIE! Old people names (especially boys) on babies is pretty much my favorite thing ever.
My superfave girl name ever is Beatrice. DBF vetoed it but I'm hoping I can wear him down over time. It's the best name ever, I don't know why he doesn't see that.
So I sat and thought for a bit. For a boy I really like Martin, Max and Jan. I like Rainer/Reiner but I don't think it would work well in the US totally. For girls Lena, Lara, Anja, Sabine and Heike

Not that children are in my plans, but if something happens, I like:
Letitia, Phillipa (though the newest member of the British Royal Family's sister has made that a bit too popular for my liking), Eleanor, Courtland, Ian, and Anders. DH refuses to play the game unless and until there are children to be named, but he has let out that if there is a girl, he would like to name her for his grandmother, Kathleen.

Propose Nacho. Please. My DH, whose Basque name is the equivalent of Ignacio hates the name. Take that, Tupac.
For girls I like Lydia and Sofía (but just saw Sophia is now a very popular baby name, so that might get vetoed) and DH wants either Iñaki or Craig for a boy. As I said in PP, I tried to get Ignacio/Nacho in there but DH absolutely hates that name.
The day before she was born we sat down in the hospital cafeteria and composed a list of girls and boys names. When she was born, dh took the list out of his pocket and tore it down the middle saying we didn't need the boy half! Still took us a few hours to decide on her name... Her second name we only picked 6 weeks later, the day before we registered her birth!!! And that was my mum who suggested it - my grandmother's mother's name. It's a nice name but would never have thought of it, esp not for a first name
Some of the girl names also on the list were Anna, Emma, Laura and a few others - they didn't sit entirely well with our surname. Can't remember any of the boy names! It will be back to the drawing board if we have another.
I tend to like Irish names or traditional names. Some names though are too English for me (as in English country, not English language - it's an Irish thing...)
For girls I like Lydia and Sofía (but just saw Sophia is now a very popular baby name, so that might get vetoed) and DH wants either Iñaki or Craig for a boy. As I said in PP, I tried to get Ignacio/Nacho in there but DH absolutely hates that name.
I like Inaki (sorry can't do the accent).
I really love French names, hence Amadine and Anouk. DH and I were talking about his grandmother's name, Hayde, last night and couldn't figure out its' original origin. She's from Argentina, so maybe it is Spanish? Any ideas?
Old people names (especially boys) on babies is pretty much my favorite thing ever.
Mine too! Aurelia's name is such an old lady name in Spain, but I didn't care. I also had Gilbert (my grandfather's name) on our list for a boy but DH vetoed.
For our next kid if it's a boy we are thinking Raul or possibly Xoel. For girls no idea. I think we'd have a tough time naming another girl.

I'm not a fan of Ignacio/Nacho either. And not just because it reminds me of chips. Funny, Lydia was one of our top contenders for a girl! Such a pretty name and eash to pronounce in English an Spanish.
We have names picked out - 1 each, so we'll need to start talking if we're having two of either - but it's considered bad luck to talk about it ahead of time (Jewish tradition). For me, it was important to have family names so we're only considering names that our ancestors have had, so it's mostly traditional Jewish names. Or the Hebrew versions of them.
A name I love that DH vetoed is Aviva - I think it's so pretty (means springtime) but apparently DH went to high school with an Aviva and she was horrible. Which means our baby would be horrible or something? Don't know but I was sad to take it off the list.
I loved the name Sebastian, until I found out that its our downstairs neighbours name and he is one of the biggest assholes that I know. I also like the name Kevin, but I then found out that MIL's dad's name was Kevin so again I vetoed it (silly I know).
If James had been a girl then he would have been Elizabeth Paige. That name is still in the running if we have a girl next. I also like Caroline. But my favourite at the moment and it goes with my surname is Millie. So maybe, Amelia or something like that. I also like Georgia.
For boys, I like the name Cade and so does DH. Only boys name that we agree on. The name Adam is also starting to grow on me. I can imagine saying 'these are my sons James and Adam' for some reason.

DH and I can't agree on any baby names-I want something French or German and he wants English Biblical names so our kids "can blend in if we move back to the States". He has a very traditional Dutch name that got him made fun of his whole life, but I feel like our kids need something unique. And besides, I love his name!
Everytime we get into this I just say I'm going to name our baby Balthazar, regardless of gender. That usually ends the convo pretty quick
Some names that I liked weren't even put on the list because dh vetod all names that began with C, K or F... lots of names eliminated with that sentence!! Catherine, Kate, Cian, Killian..... the list goes on!
The reason was that he didn't want the kid to have an awful nn with the initals! It would have been FO'C, CO'C or KO'C............. clearly he had thought about this a lot!!
