Sam the Chocolate lab/Australian Shepard/Newfie came to live with us on Sunday. He really is the most loving awesome bear of a dog you could ever find.
However, he's having some serious bathroom issues. As in, he won't go. He's getting plenty of fresh water and eating well (Blue Buffalo dry mixed with BB beef stew) He's gone pee twice since he's been here both time floods after going out 10-15 times. I take him on walks lasting from 20 minutes to and hour and he sniffs and I think its going to happen but he won't potty. Today he was at the house with the kids and out sitter. I'm paying her boyfriend to come with her so Sam can get a few good walks in during the day. When I got home the dog walker said Sam had an accident inside a few minutes after a walk.
I totally understand he is going to have accidents and honestly I just feel bad for the guy. I don't know how to make him feel comfortable enough to just go.

I had a similar issue with my rescue. It took him a few days to get over his nerves. I also asked his foster if she had a potty command, she did and it really helped. Basically all you can do is give lots of praise when he goes outside. Some dogs are funny and don't like an audience, not sure if it will help, but mabey you could try turning your back.

Thanks, I emailed the woman who does the rescue to ask if he had any special tricks or anything. Hopefully she has something that will make him magically pee. ;D

You've had him since Sunday? So just a few days? Some dogs take a little while to feel comfortable in their new home. Continuing with the praise is perfect, but unless your vet thinks there is something to worry about at this point, I think he's just adjusting. Give him another day or two and things should improve.
I don't think B pooped for the first 4 days or so when we adopted him and we were told to give him some time to adjust.
