We used to put an egg on our elderly dog's food to encourage him to eat. When MIL was here, she mixed his food with water and he ate that just as well as with the egg. Maybe try those?

I was just going to say, don't make pancakes for him, like my MIL did when Moxie wouldn't eat one time and then she expected it the next time. But then I saw your latest about the waffle. So ignore me, lol!
Just feed him whatever he will eat. He missed his people and so not eating isn't unusual but 10 days is a long time to go without a regular meal. The fact that he is eating some stuff is a good sign though.
If he doesn't eat the chicken and rice, you may need to go and get some treats (look for grain free if possible) and maybe go for the big guns in the getting a dog to eat - hot dogs. I have never seen a dog turn up his nose at a hot dogs. I may also try to warm up some chicken broth and soak tonight's dog food in it. Sometimes when one of my pups is upset, a softer food is easier to coax him with for a meal.
My dog sometimes gets an upset stomach when we are away and needs famotadine (Pepcid) to get her going again.
Then we give her plain pasta or Cheerios on top of her regular food to get her to start eating. Sometimes we also have to feed her in an unusual place, like the bathroom or outside. I think it throws her off enough that she forgets about being upset.
