There's a neighborhood one this Saturday. I'm going to get rid of some of my clothes/shoes and a few tools. Does anyone have any suggestions for things that people frequently forget to get rid of?
We're having one Friday, I've been going through every room and pulling out stuff we never use. I don't know about what is frequently forgotten though.
Thanks ladies! Yeah, we moved about a month ago and a lot of stuff hasn't been unpacked. I have to go through tonight and find as much as I can! I have some old wedding crap (milk glass, burlap aisle runner) that I haven't been able to sell online. I also tend to buy nice shoes but then decide they aren't comfortable. Do you think I could sell barely worn (like MAYBE once) Cole Haan's for $25? H thinks I'm crazy and that no one will buy shoes for that at a garage sale. They retail for over $200, though.

Maybe you could try the fashion's swap/sell board? You might have some takers. Or even e-bay for that price??
I'm lazy when it comes to shipping things. No other excuse really since I work 100 feet from a post office. Maybe I'll take pictures of the stuff and give it a shot.

I go room by room throughout the year. We've never really forgotten anything. We've decided later on to sell something we'd originally wanted to keep.
Along the lines of people buying weird things, my mom once sold a bundle of my brother's socks to an older woman. She came back to every garage sale my mom had looking for socks. She even asked my mom at a school fundraising garage sale if she had socks.

Do you all find that garage sales are really worth the time and effort? We've been working on a complete decluttering in preparation of a possible move, but I'm feeling like it will be a waste of time for maybe $200-$300.

I just think of it as money I didn't have before, and that the time I take to prep isn't time I could be working and making money anyway.
I think it's worth getting a little money from your stuff. If you don't have any luck at this garage sale, you can decide never to do it again.
