Tonight I left work and accidentally got on the 55 to West Seattle instead of the 355 to Greenwood. *facepalm*. With the return trip and transfers I'm going to end up getting home about 90 minutes later than i should have. ETA: and it was her night to make dinner, which will be cold by the time i get home thanks to my own carelessness.
What's the most epic wrong bus trip you've made in Seattle or somewhere else?
when I was in undergrad I accidentally got on an express bus that took me into the downtown bus tunnel, which I had never been in before and felt totally lost. (which is kind of lame because I grew up here, but I think I panicked) I had to call my dad and have him explain where to go to get on a regular but that would take me to work
Not on public transit and not in Seattle, but one day in Madrid I was wandering around alone. It was my second time to Madrid, so I was feeling confident. I got myself so turned around that I didn't recognize any street or landmark. I kept walking thinking I would eventually find my way back and the more I walked the more lost I became. I started to freak out a little because I don't know spanish and I had been gone, what felt like forever. I flagged down the next cab, hopped in and asked him to take me back to my hotel.
Turns out I was about 7 blocks away from my hotel. Yeeeeah.
Have I also mentioned that h has a degree in geography, is a geographer by profession and still teases me about this to this very day?
I'm a mess on the subways in ny. I always go the wrong direction. Always.
when i was 14, a friend of mine from TX was visiting, and we were going to take the bus down to seattle, pike place, etc...i was so good, looked up the schedule walked quite a bit to get to the bus stop.....only to get on the NORTH bus, and not the SOUTH bus. we went to everett mall instead. oops.
I have taken the right bus from work in downtown Seattle to the lynnwood park and ride only to remember I drove that day - and parked in a parking garage that doesn't allow overnight parking....
ugh, this wins for me as the WORST! I would be absolutely mad at myself, lol

Not a bus or Seattle, but in college I spent a semester studying in England. After school was over I traveled with another girl through Europe for a few weeks. We were trying to travel from Paris to Interlaken, Switzerland by train. We had to transfer somewhere around 9pm and we were looking at the schedule. Saw a train that was supposed to come at 09:00 to Interlaken and thought great! Train came through a few minutes late (unusual, but we didn't think about it) and we got on. Of course, now we know that everything in Europe is on military time so the Interlaken train we thought we took was a 9am train. Ended up in Basel, Switzerland, near the Germany border, at 11pm. With no place to stay. And no trains headed back out that night. The hostel was a 30 minute walk through some woods. We started walking but decided it wasn't a good idea. Tried to take a trolley somewhere (thought it was going to take us back to the train station) and ended up at the trolley base where they go at night. Which was outside of town a bit. Got followed by some weird men, took a cab back into the town center, and paid way too much money for a hotel. Then overslept the next morning and missed the next train we were hoping to take to Interlaken.
I just remember walking around with our huge packs, which screamed "American college student!". We had our swiss army knives out for protection.
