My ILs and parents are coming back to back in November so I want to take advantage and get a hotel room in the area with H for a night while my ILs are here.
We were originally going to do Santa Monica, which is pretty much our backyard and has lots of good restaurants and things to do, but unfortunately the week my ILs are here there is also some film festival in town so hotel room rates are jacked WAY up. (We have to go the week my ILs are visiting because my parents will not watch the kids for us. My mom would but my dad will veto.)
Anyone have suggestions for places to stay within maybe an hour's drive of westside LA? Since it's just an overnight we don't want to drive really far away. We could do Santa Barbara or Solvang but it's a little bit farther than we were thinking (plus we went to SB in May).
I don't know that we will see much other than the inside of our hotel room and whatever restaurants we go to, so first priority is an outstanding hotel and second is somewhere with good dining options.
Thanks!
@kirkette nannerspkangaroo11farmvillelover I am REALLY really sure I am missing a bunch of important LA/SoCal people here but DD2 and I are sick and my brain is mush

I've had a nice stay at both the Marriott or Four Points Sheraton in Ventura (lol, given the UO thread today). The Ojai Resort and Spa is gorgeous. I haven't stayed there but the spa and food were great.

Oh yay! I had a great spa day there recently. In town, Suzanne's is great food and there is a fun outdoor used bookstore called Barts Books. Have fun!

I was coming in to say not Ventura, but it's cute if you can find a decent hotel.
I'm staying there again for a race in November, haha. I'll be thinking of you!
I missed all this Ventura talk. Not that i know enough about California (outside of a 5 mile radius around my house + Palm Springs + Santa Barbara + the beaches near Carlsbad where we have camped) to participate. lol.
Heh. I had no fun suggestions off the top of my head, but I have heard great things about that Ojai Resort.
I attended a work even at Terranea in Palos Verdes recently, and it was really nice. I was only there for the day, but I hope to get back there for a romantic staycation at some point.
