DS has been refusing naps occasionally on weekends for the past few months. This weekend he took a very short nap Friday at DC, refused both yesterday and today, and bedtime has been a total shitshow. Friday he screamed so much he started gasping and wouldn't go down until 9 pm (probaly 2 hours past when he was tired). Today has been the same. He's so, so tired.
WTF is wrong with my kid? This is like reliving the newborn days of screaming and crying. He's never has an EI but has had a cold for the past week+. 2 year check up with shots was Tuesday but I don't think that's it.

Ditto @starry. The distress would bother me. If it's just naps, is maybe offer up "quiet time" for a few days and see if he falls asleep on his own or is at least more pleasant while avoiding sleep. If it's more of the same at bedtime, does the problem start before the bedtime routine or once he's about to be left alone? I agree with asking him if he's verbal enough to even sort of answer.

DD had an unusually rough weekend (not just sleep-wise) and I am chalking it up to molars. She turns 2 on Thursday so it's either molars or just being a 2-year-old. Man I hope it's the former...
DS finally went down after maybe 20 min of screaming. I think he was overtired but can't figure out why he is fighting sleep so much. He woke up crying at 3:30 AM and never went back down. I gave ibruprophren before bed so I'm guessing some kind of anxiety/bad dreams/etc mixed with 2 year molars. I hope so because if this is the terrible twos they are...aptly named.

DD actually never had an EI until she was over 2, and it was just after a cold. She's been the doc a few days before and they were fine. We ended up in the ER because we were worried about her shunt malfunctioning when we discovered a double ear infection!
