I almost jumped on the bandwagon. Then groupon posted a deal for www.maybooks.com/ and I made two of those instead I like pretty and personalized, and these fit the bill for much cheaper! MM has had a bunch of complaints about shipping from EC and things being wrong in the order.
I can't believe people use paper planners anymore. My planner is my phone. EVERYTHING goes in there.
I can't live without a wall calendar. I've tried to do the electronic thing but it's not the same. I need something I can see written down. I am lost without one.
I sort of want one, but I can't bring myself to spend the $50 on it. Plus shipping. Someone on MM got theirs the other day and there's stickers in it that say "babysit!" lol.
Aha! I have found templates for planners all over the place, and apparently you can get them bound at an office supply store? I'm DIY-EC all over this joint.

I think the EC planner is what happens when you are tight with your money and hang out with a bunch of like-minded women. You feel the need to splurge on something and end up with a board approved pricey planner.
I am a dork that had to have one, after reading about it here. They are like 75 if you get all the stuff with them, and yes it is expensive, and perhaps a silly purchase. I justify it for myself, because I need to record things for various reasons. My memory sucks, and it's good for me to write things down. I still put things in my iphone, but a paper planner will help. I am using it for school, keeping track of day to day life to improve my memory, tracking symptoms, and keeping track of workouts. I didn't need an expensive planner, but I did need a planner. I just really liked it, and got sucked in. I am such a follower.

If you didn't use paper planners but wanted to start, I'd say don't bother. I use a paper planner all the time, and I used to buy 2-3 per year in search for something I loved. I'm actually saving money with this one.

I"m pretty good w/ my electronic planner (cozi.com!), but just the other day, I kind of "got it" why people still like paper. I have a really complicated schedule w/ my DS and preschool and who is going to pick him up, etc. I had to print out a few months of a calendar and write it all down and color code it in order to REALLY see it.
Electronic- even on my big PC - wasn't cutting it for me. I really needed it on paper and color coded. I'm going to "re-do" this now that I have all the parts I need and I'll be carrying it w/ me in a notebook I always keep in my purse!
It kinda reminds me of the girls on the EFF board buying millions of fancy diapers. Hello, if you have 300 cloth diapers, I don't think it is environmentally friendly anymore.
Ecb- you can color code on cozi and even select which colors to view (each color = a family member or activity)
Oh, I know. I just have so much other stuff on there, that when I try to also include my son's daily schedule- it gets to be too much. It involves my DH's 2 week on/ 2 off schedule, days I have to drop off and pick up, days my DH can do it, days my parents will do it. Then where DS is going after preschool - home, DC, my parents......
TOO MUCH! So now I have JUST his schedule on paper w/ nice highlighting done.
And it helps me to keep track of when I'm not sure (yet) where he'll be going that day (I'm also dealing w/ a sick aunt and my parents can't always take him on their regular 2 days).
I much prefer paper planners to online so I don't blame MM. Someone posted a link to an Etsy shop with planners that are very similar for $30. I know that's still a chunk of monkey to spend but it's an improvement.
Times like these I wish I had kids so I could justify splurging on a mondo-planner.

I do like having a paper planner. I got one of the Do It All Mom planners at Target the past two years. It has weekly and monthly views, a folder space in the front, and even comes with stickers. Way more "carpool" and "practice" stickers than I'll ever use. None for babysitting, though.
The thing I like best is that it has grids so that you can list daily activities/appointments for multiple family members.
It was $15. The EC ones are pretty, but I don't think they're *that* much more functional than many planners that are way cheaper.
