I don't think they suggest this any more, because there's some benefit to a slight raise in body temperature after a vaccination? Someone else pipe in and tell me if I'm right or wrong, please!

Our pedi said they don't want you to do it beforehand because it can reduce the efficacy of the shots. They said it's ok after if bebe is in pain or has a fever though.

Dont give Tylenol before the shots. It reduces the inflammatory response which is needed for the efficacy of the vaccine. Layla needed Tylenol after one set of shots so far and she has had 4-5 sets.

My pedi said not to do this, lest the Tylenol mask a true reaction. I usually give it to DD around two hours after whether she's crying or not. I waited until she was clearly in need of it after her 1st shots, and the 20-30 minutes it took for the Tylenol to kick in was torture for all of us.

I try to get him to take a nap to see if that makes him feel better. If he's got a fever, is crying non-stop and nothing is making him feel better, then give the tylenol. I did give some after 2 month shots and I don't think I did after the 4 or 6 month shots. We have the 9 month appointment in a week or so.
Definitely after shots and I normally wait until he starts to exhibit signs of being in pain or having a fever before giving tylenol. He had his 15 month shots today and we gave him tylenol about 5 hours after because he was showing signs of pain and had a fever.
I'm just lurking around, but I had to jump in because my pediatrician gave me stern lecture when I asked. I'm traumatized.
You should NOT. Because if the child is running a low grade fever they should not be given shots. If you pre dose with Tylenol it can suppress a fever you may not have noticed, after is fine if needed.
