I don't think I could live in the desert. I don't like heat and it's too brown. H thinks I'm crazy because he loves the desert
H has said that he would never live in San Francisco even if he got a job offer for a ton of money. Because it's too expensive, too many weird people. I think he's crazy because I love it there.
Humm... I think I'm too used to my liberal/diverse bubble to live anywhere super conservative or that doesn't have a nice mix of people. Also, I hate humidity. This likely leaves out a lot of the south? Also too much snow is a no go. I enjoy not shoveling my steps/walkway/ worrying about frozen pipes.
I used to say no place in the rural south, but DH's company just started a project in the middle of BFE Alabama so it's possible we might end up there .
Other than that, unpopular opinion, I am not a city person and would have a hard time living in a city with more than 250k people.
I was going to post again in the other thread that I don't think I could live in the south. I don't think the humidity or the politics would suit me very well.
I would not live somewhere were I was a second class citizen by virtue of my vagina, that includes places in the United States where there is not adequate access to health care, either because of legislation or because the only medical center nearby was religiously affiliated.
My list of where I would live is much shorter, sadly.

Oh, probably lots of places. Anywhere that it is really hot/humid for much of the year, so I'm thinking pretty much anywhere in the south would be out. I would prefer not to live in a very conservative area. I am used to snow and some extreme weather from being in the midwest my whole life, but I don't think I'd choose to move anywhere else with extreme weather.
I also could not live in a super small town or even a smallish town unless there was a larger city/town nearby. My city is pretty small compared to a lot of places but we have tons of cultural events, non-chain awesome places to eat, a major sports team, etc - there is tons to do here. I think I could move somewhere else comparable but I'm not interested in moving somewhere smaller.
I don't think I could ever live in San Francisco again, now that I have a kid. It's way too expensive and the school situation is insane. I also don't ever want to live in LA again because I hate traffic and long commutes and the place where my H would work is in an area that would definitely involve a lot of traffic and commuting. I can't say I'd never live there again though because we may end up there someday.
I've never lived anywhere with snow, so probably really cold places are off my list, but never say never. I used to hate the desert and now I live here and I love it (except for June-August, during which we travel as much as possible!).
Also, most importantly, we really can't live anywhere that does not have a large university and medical center (for my H's job). This also helps because it sort of limits us to cities with some culture/amenities and, usually, liberal-mindedness. I live in a blue dot in a red state now, for example.

NYC. Anything East of the Rockies and South of the Mason-Dixon Line (Texas, the south, the southern part of the midwest states, etc). Any place that is a small island.
I would love to get out of California. We may stay in our current city but there is no where else in this state I would like to live. Nothing too desert-y. I am over the intense heat. Very few places north of 40 degrees latitude. It is too cold. I hate big, crowded cities. I will take the suburbs or country any day.
