I'm not sure if it was on this board or facebook mom's page that a mom's little had fallen off of the couch and the overall attitude had been that it's a right of passage that your baby fall off of an elevated surface. So I wanted to see how many people it has actually happened to.
Perfect timing. I found Carter holding Nolan by his feet next to my bed this morning. He claimed that Nolan was falling and he caught him. I'm calling BS.
N was laughing, so I assume he didn't actually hit the floor.

Before a year, both off the couch more than once, but in all cases it was because they were crawling and horsing around. They were both very mobile by that point.

DH reports H fell off the couch in his care onto a pile of laundry around 3 months. When D was 9 months she flipped herself over the back of the little doggy couch and landed with her neck and body contorted. I was right there and couldn't stop it :- (.
A used to crawl straight off the bed, crash to the ground, then keep right on crawling unfazed. My bed is low (couch height) but still! Both my kids have rolled off the bed to the floor MOTN as babies.
Yes. At around seven months, I left L sleeping in the middle of a friend's king-sized bed. Later, when I heard crying, I went into the bedroom, but there was no sign of L. She had rolled off the bed and had somehow crawled underneath it! It was very unexpected for a baby that wasn't rolling or crawling yet.
No for the girls, (I'm sure there were a few tumbles here and there, but nothing I can remember standing out) but around 5 months I left Elias in my room in the middle of our bed with pillows around him and I ran to the kitchen to grab his bottle and came back and he wasn't there. He had rolled off and was in the corner of the room! Like he barrell rolled a few times. I had no idea he could do that! He wasn't crying so he must have enjoyed his adventure, lol. Our bed wasn't that high, it was a low Ikea bed frame and I think the pillows helped with his roll/fall but it scared the shit out of me when I went in there.
