Ugh, that sucks
I honestly don't think that I've had a job that doesn't involve dealing with the public or clients. My job right now doesn't deal with the public, but I have clients to deal with and that can be just as bad.

This is why I'm going to library school. There are obviously jobs in libraries that require dealing with borrowers, but at least everyone has to be quiet.
I could sit at my desk all day and not talk to or see a single soul. I hear them because I am in a cubicle world, but I don't see them or talk to them. Somedays it is really nice. Other days, i have to go see my work friends and yap my mouth off for a while.

homeless people hang out in libraries. People poop with library books. They're old, used, and they smell. It's a giant smelly room, filled with homeless people and books with poop all over them.
Get a gig in a corporate/special library. I work with a small group of engineers and an office staff; often no one realizes I'm here until mid-afternoon. Plus, no one poops while reading about thermodynamics.
Smace, could you go into business doing PI work for yourself? The hired by attorneys kind, not the hired by the general public kind? That seems fun. But, then again, I'm a librarian.
I hate people. I'm a stay at home Mom and it would be great if I never had to go back to work. I'm mystified when people say they 'miss the adult interaction'. I have no idea where they were getting this adult interaction in the workplace. Most days I found most people to be dumb, selfish, lazy and obnoxious - in every place I ever worked!
A family member works for an insurance company and he mentioned fraud investigations to me as a possible career choice when my son goes to school. I know they work from home (which is extremely appealing). Definitely public contact but I imagine mostly phone work. And if I'm the one doing the investigating I'm probably the one that gets to be a dick on the phone.
This. And if you like animals, maybe a local shelter or humane society? I have two part-time jobs - one in data entry and one as an animal caretaker. I pretty much never deal with people. It's awesome.
