And I'll never understand why people knock the Orange line. As a Malden resident for many years, it was such an easy way for me to commute into downtown Boston for work or whatever!
It always smells like urine, thats my main beef. Also, it was a total nightmare for everyone last winter (although so was the red line south of JFK). There was a period where if you wanted to go into town you had to go outbound to Malden and loop around in order to get a seat.
My husband used to live in Somerville, and he's told me that on more than one occasion he went to sit in a seat that had fresh puddles of urine on it. So yeah. The very rare times I've had to take the orange line, I never sat.
(Of course, I saw more than one person actually urinating on the D line when I was in college. So it's not like the other lines are any cleaner.)
And he not only got to take the orange line, but he also got to take the bus to the orange line, and then the red line to my office. It was a big adventure for him. I told him in the morning, "you're going to see a lot of weirdos. But that's ok. There's weirdos everywhere, so you have to get used to them some time." And he said, "baaaaajerwhqtke bvhiw," because he gets it.
I prefer the orange line over the green line. All that starting and stopping and going around corners used to make me nauseous. And of course, all of the college kids on the green line. Ugh.

Red line 4 lyfe. I had to take the green line one morning during rush hour, and it was horrifying. The red line isn't exactly library quiet then, but at least you can hear yourself think.
OMG he's so cute!!!! And I'm impressed you took him on the T. I'm not up for that yet, possibly ever.
My husband brought him to visit me at work, so he was the brave one. Since he doesn't drive, though, they'd never go anywhere if they avoided the bus/train, and I think he wanted to get it over with before the weather turned. He had, however, come in by himself a couple of weeks ago and mapped out the route to use with the stroller, so he was golden. (Well, at least until he got to the T station here and called me in a panic trying to find the elevator, ha.)
