Sorry, school, yes. When I asked for clarification there was nothing else forthcoming. Just that Isabel was there. I know it could be other things...but I know the names of all the specialists and other service type people. lol. It's none of them.

I don't know if you believe in that sort of thing, but I hope it gave you some comfort (after the initial feeling of your blood running cold, of course).
I feel like this is place to say my mom was a friend for every kid.
And something kind of...interesting to me-
Her graveside was chosen to be close to our other family members. It wasn't ideal, but the best we could do. When we gathered to plant around her gravestone I showed up an hour early just to be with her. I walked around. Eventually I noticed she is situated a row above approximately 30 kids who died at age 1 year or under. What a place for a labor and delivery nurse. I really feel she's with those babies.

My DD was only 6 months old when my FIL passed due to an aggressive cancer. He was so excited for us to have this baby and just adored her to pieces. The day he passed, she was crawling around in his room in an outfit with butterflies all over it. He whispered to my husband how much he loved that little girl in the butterfly shirt only hours before he would be gone.
It's been 5 years and I shit you not, whenever my kids are playing outside, there is a monarch butterfly that will hang out the ENTIRE time they are outside. I know it's physically not him but it feels like he's there. My kids now yell out "There's grandpa!" whenever they see one.

Omg. Take the wine bottle away.
That's so nice. My great aunt, lover of kids and NICU volunteer for 40 years, was being buried last year when we heard a bell and suddenly the field across the street was full of little kids. It made me so happy to know my Aunt B would have those kids nearby.

It gives us so much comfort.
Seriously?
I could be exaggerating with the EVERY time but Yeah....Enough that it's noticeable and almost expected when they go outside to play.
We got married in a Pavilion on the beach, and for about ten minutes before the ceremony began, there were five dolphins in the cove, just sort of hanging out. Between us we have five deceased grandparents (who were active in our lives). Kind of a stretch, lol, but it's a nice thought.
My mom used to give a cousin of mine dimes every time she saw him. He died in 2005, and, for an entire year, everywhere she went she'd find a dime on the ground.
Even if these things mean nothing, it's comforting to think they could mean something.
We have a cardinal (if it's not the same one then our yard is a stopping area for single Cardinals) that always comes and hangs out and sings/Cardinal sounds. I mentioned it to one of the girls downstairs and she told me it's her brother (who passed away in February) visiting. I've heard this about cardinals before and I like it.

My grandma passed away and never met my son. Ever since I was pregnant a beautiful cardinal hangs out in our back yard all the time. She adored babies and we always talked about my future son long before I was pregnant even. I've heard cardinals can be people from your past and now I believe it
The last of my dad's childhood friends passed away a couple weeks ago. He'd been mostly incoherent since a fall a few weeks before that. The day before he passed he whispered very clearly to his wife that my dad was in the room. My dad has been gone for over 10 years. This story brings me comfort. Dad was there for his friend in the end.
For the record, I am older than most here, my dad was 9 years old than my mom, and my sibs are 13 and 15 years older than me.
my sister-in-law's grandmother had a thing for hummingbirds. apparently she collected them or something? anyway, sil said at her neice's wedding, a hummingbird flew down between the bride and groom during the vows and hovered there just long enough that it got weird, and everyone cried.
I hope when I die a big spooky owl flies at my great grandchildren during important moments in their lives.
05heel......i hope you come back as an angry goose.

That's lovely.
I recently discovered that my FIL is buried about 20 yards from a friend from high school. Both died on Sept. 11, 11 years apart. It gives me comfort to see that their graves are so close to each other.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
