H had an interview on Wednesday and was basically offered the job, although no contract has been sent yet, so we aren't telling any friends or family yet.
I keep waffling between super excited and very stressed about logistics (learning French, moving overseas and all that comes with that, being so far away from family, especially with Ingrid.) I know there are some expats here, but I don't think anyone is in France, right? I'll check out the International Board. For this moment I am excited! I can't believe the PhD is finally almost done and we are moving forward.
How fantastic! After he gets the offer, find out what the immigration issues are for following spouses and children. At least one move, our papers didn't come through for months after my father's.

Thanks, I will add this to my list. He mentioned us in an email exchange, and the hiring guy mentioned that their secretary will help with some of it, so that is good to know.
I'm happy to answer any questions. Feel free to PM me. I lived in Paris for 18 months in 2012-2013 for DH's job and DD went to preschool there. I just went back to spend a month there this summer. ETA: with 7yo DD and 11-month old DS..
@myblue is also in Paris and azurely (tag name???) is in the south.
How exciting! My H and I just moved to Germany this month, so I can probably relate to pretty much everything you are feeling right now. I knew no German before we got here, heck, I've only added a few words to my vocab so far and can't formulate a sentence. I still get really overwhelmed and flustered when I go out and put myself in the local areas, but so far it's been a pretty crazy awesome experience!
When my H told me we were moving here (military family, so no choice really) I had an internal freak out. I was excited and terrified all at once. It wasn't the easiest process moving over here, but I've been through much more stressful situations in the past.
Hello! How exciting! Im in the Paris area so I wouldn't be too much help with Toulouse but I believe it is a nice area. France has been a lovely place to live, but definitely start learning French as soon as possible. Did you say how long your stay will be?

Apparently there is an Americans in Toulouse group with about 88 members...much smaller that the Paris anglophone groups but possibly a good place to start. Meetup is also good sometimes!
Exciting. We spent 18 months in Germany about 10 years ago. It was the most amazing experience. This was before we had a family, but we would love the opportunity to go back for a sabbatical in Europe.
