What do you have in your kid's room? We're skipping the toddler bed and going straight to a full. I like the Jenny Lind look but it seems so little girlish - great for now but in all honesty I'd like this to be her bed until she leaves for college.
PBK is a lot of money but I'm not seeing anything I really like anywhere else.
Does your kid have a footboard or just a headboard?
Her dresser and nightstand are white - do you think the bed should be too?
Basically I just want you to post me a link to the perfect bed even though I don't know what that is.
We bought the Pace bed from Sam's Club. Headboard & footboard. I don't think it's available in white, though. I'd want a white bed/headboard, but I'd worry about the whites matching.
J has a full size platform bed. There are underbed drawers and an underbed bookshelf type space at the foot of the bed. No real head or footboard. Then he has a small Ikea dresser.
He has a small room so we wanted to maximize space. We only use one of the under bed drawers since the other is against the wall but I store his linens I there. The bookshelf is invaluable since his room doesn't have the space for a bookshelf.
Despite the small room we went with a full bed because we also don't have a guest room. So we wanted options. But beyond that, the five of us gather on his bed and snuggle up to read books every night. So I like having that space.
ThE minimal furniture allows enough room for him to still have space to play.
Eta: This is his bed. But I know we didn't pay this much!
Nexera 315403 Dixie/Pixel 2-Drawer Storage Bed, Full, White
We think we're going to go straight to a twin bed, probably without a box spring to keep it close to the ground. If we don't need the crib for another kiddo, we might transition his crib to a toddler bed first, then go to a twin.

DS has a metal Ikea bunkbed. DD1 has a white Ikea daybed that I love (I don't think they carry it any longer). DD2 and DD3 (sort of) have a white wooden bunk bed that DH is in the process of building.

We bought the PBK Catalina twin when it was on sale. I am really happy with it.
How's the quality? I was looking at this set bc it seemed a good deal. We have some other furniture drom there that I haven't been super impressed with.
We converted DD1's crib (Bassettbaby) in to a full with head and footboard. It should last until college. I hope! No boxspring so it's not too high but we can add one later.

It seems pretty sturdy. Solid wood. We've caught DD1 jumping on it a few times so far.

I have a full in my dd's room. I got the Target Jenny Lind headboard in teal. It was inexpensive enough that I don't mind if I have to get something different for down the line. I really love it.

We bought one of those crib/toddler bed/full size conversion beds. DD1 used the crib until she was 3, then we put her in the toddler bed (because I was pregnant with DD2 and couldn't really lift her out of the crib - she wasn't trying to climb out). When DD2 arrived we moved the guest bed to her room and put the toddler bed back in crib configuration.
DD has a really similar one thatgirl2478 posted. Hers is just more arched than square.
We love it! It was like $229 on Overstock. I also wanted something she could grow into and was decent for guests as grandma/grandpa usually sleep in her room.
We have a full mattress because we already had it. And I love how it's easy enough to just kick DD the floor in our room when we have guests.
DD has much other furniture in her room but her bookshelves are black by default (cheap at Target). I think with white furniture you can get whatever you want, but my style is pretty mix and match anyways.
And I hear you on the Jenny Lind. I love. Love. Love it but I don't think it ages well so I stuck to it with the crib. Although I see C*B now has an adult version of Jenny Lind...lol.

We have this bed with the book case headboard from walmart. We have had it for 3 years. It has held up well, though we only use the drawers for off season clothes storage, and I would not use them for daily use.
It is cheap enough, that when she is a teen, I will happily get her a larger bed, once she doesn't want all the stuffed animals, American girl dolls, or dollhouses she has at 9. I might save it for her to take to college, or I might just pass it on. Our nobs are white, not natural, but you could easily paint them or change the nobs to something more fun.
DS has this one in black. I only plan for him to have it for about 5 to 8 years, but again, it is not expensive. He needs the room to play now, at 13, he won't. Both kids have large Ikea bookshelves in their rooms to, to hold toys and books. Their rooms are 12x 12, so reasonable, but not palaces, and they also have a playroom, even then, they like to play in their rooms.
We have the Jenny Lind bed and I'm so impressed with it. It looks very girl my now but she has mermaid sheets on it and a Ruffled comforter. Honestly, it's a white bed so it's going to reflect what else is around it. She's in a girly/toddler room now so that's what it looks like. I do think the quality will last until DD goes to college.
We did that, too. Went from crib to front panel off the crib, to full-sized bed. Both girls had convertible cribs in their nurseries, so I kept their headboards and then added a generic bed frame (could have used the footboard too, but we decided against it). They're perfect, honestly. Very sturdy, very comfy. And ended up pretty inexpensive.
