I'm sorry girls but sending Swapnil home was the right thing to do, but, but, neither Swipnil or the model would listen to each other. She HATED everything he made, and he wouldn't listen to her.
What was Ashley thinking, that pattern was fugly and why oh why do people think that peplum skirts are attractive??? I'm really beginning to question why I liked Candice, her tastes have been really questionable for that past couple of challenges, all her model needed was a whip. I'm looking at Edmond's outfit and while the top is intricate that outfit did not flatter her. I'll say it, I'd wear Kelly's outfit, I liked Merline's outfit, she can stay for now, hahahaha

Kelly really did hit it out of the park. At first I thought she was CRAZY to listen to her model and try to make "upscale, runway overalls" but when I saw the finished product, I was impressed and even thought, "Maybe I could do overalls if they looked like that." (Which I can't, BTW).
I did not like Ashley's either - it was terrible and I was super disappointed in her not stepping up. Her whole thing is designing for real women and she made her real woman look terrible.
Candace liked her look... so funny b/c her model looks pissed wearing it. But her model's hair was so fun.
Can Tim Gunn still do the save? Because I bet he uses it on Swapnil.
Nah. He seemed PISSED at Swapnil... Like, usually at the end he says something nice to them about being a great designer, and not letting this get them down, hug and air kiss... Not with Swapnil... It was all, "go clean up your space, don't let the door hit you on the way out"
If the judges had put out Ashley or Candice, he would have used it, for sure though.

Good point.
On the other hand, I can also see Tim saying how he gave some thought to how things ended and wanting to give him another shot. For drama.

I think Swapnil was firmly in BEC territory with TG. I can see how he and his smoke breaks come off as lazy.

I think one season Tim did save someone the following episode. There were many tears.

He didn't even hug Swapnil goodbye... it was just the awkward walking by Tim and no hug for Swapnil. He did not save him and I think he's annoyed with his work ethic.

Tim Gunn seemed more angry with Swapnil than anyone. His laziness pushed Tim to saying the F word! I think Tim believed in his talent which made his attitude all the more frustrating to watch. I think he was fully behind swapnil getting the boot. I agree the bitchy client didn't help, I wonder if she was encouraged to be difficult to help force the outcome they wanted.
Glad kelly won one. She did well.
Ashley suuuucks at picking textiles. This print was as ugly as her hospital gown print. Otherwise I'm willing to cut her some slack for having an off week when she's been consistent the rest of the competition. But how disappointing to see her fail at plus size.
The rest was pretty blah. I'm having trouble remembering the rest of the looks.
I'm exhausted by the effort-boner the judges and Tim Gunn had for Swapnil. I hope the save isn't used on him, because if I have to hear one more percentile being thrown around to illustrate effort on that show, I'm going to flip off my TV.
I'd say "throw it out the window" but I only give about 9.234% effort to my television rage.
I thought this as well---until they lifted up the shirt this week to show that it was held together with some weird make-shift knot.

I'm guessing they don't get to surf the web during the competition and such, but don't they get to bring a sketch book with them with ideas from the past and things they like? I feel like they should have more creative ideas than this past week if they had that.

I thought that Ashley and her model knew that the type of skirt that was going to look best on her mosel's body type was..surprise! The little circle flair job she's been using all season and was criticized for last week. It sucked that she got into a rock and a hard place to where she had to design something different but that wasn't right. I also thought that's why she was crying and struggling. She knew the answer but couldnt use it.
Swapnil..I mean. The model was basically like "i dont like to show my legs, arms and..yeah my face." He should have asked her what her dream outfit was based on those criteria and gone from that. She certainly was NOT "bombshell" lol.
Mostly they all seemed lost this week. Only Kelly truly knows how to constructively listen and take feedback. She's really good at it.

I think the "real woman" challenge really shows who you are as a designer. If you can't listen to your model and respect their choices, then you have no business being a high-end designer. Take your mass-produced ideals to Target! Imagine an A-list actress coming to Swapnil and having her requests ignored. He would never get another couture client.
I was so rah-rah Swapnil in the beginning, and was hoping he'd win. But he has barely phoned it in the last 4 challenges, so he deserves to be cut. Did you notice how Tim threw him even further under the bus by pointing out the shitty knot under the cape. He may point out some good parts that aren't as noticeable, but I've never seen him deliberately call attention to crappy execution. I seriously doubt he'll use his save to bring Swapnil back.
In fact, I predict that he'll save his save for either Candice or Edmond. Not Ashley or Merline. I'm sure Kelly will be in the final 4.

I haven't even watched this weeks episode yet, but very much this. He's really turned me off the past few episodes and LOL that HE'S the one that Tim loses it over. Can't wait to see it.
I think Ashley fell prey to the high expectations problem we've seen a lot. Particularly with the "real women" challenges, a designer will be given their niche and expected to excel, but with all those high expectations, they instead crash and burn because they know they'll be held to a much higher standard.
I hate that they keep telling Ashley to just be confident, as if a couple of weeks of "I promise, you're a good designer," can really erase so much time feeling like you don't measure up. I hope it doesn't end up being her downfall, though.
I think Swapnil had the opposite problem; he thought he was the bee's knees and could just coast to the finale, and his overconfidence brought him down.
I'm kind of tired of seeing Candice use leather so often.

Because they are when tailored correctly.
I never liked Swapnil so was glad to see him go.
Peplums can look gorgeous on a slim-hipped woman. But Ashley OF ALL PEOPLE should know that it doesn't work as well on a fuller-hipped woman. Have we ever seen her wear it? That should have been a clue. As a fellow Rubenesque lady, I've been rooting for Ashley. This should have been her shining moment and she absolutely blew it. Forget all the past challenges where her confidence has been shot to hell. This challenge should have been her magnum opus.
I remember a guy from a few seasons back who had only done menswear before coming on the show. They had a challenge where they had to design outfits for a band, all guys. He sucked! He got called out on the runway, too. "All season long you've been using the excuse 'I usually design for men.' Well, here was your chance to impress us and you blew it."

I thought this, too. I feel like if this challenge had occurred three or four episodes ago, Ashley would have produced a top-tier look. However, she had used that design too many times and needed something new.
i don't love her fabric choices, but with the right design, they can look cute and retro. I agree with the winner and the loser. I had high hopes for Swapnil, but he seemed to tank recently. And this look was hideous.

I am not slim-hipped and I look great in a peplum if it is tailored correctly. I am more hour-glass and that is likely why it works for me. But PP suggested they didn't look good on anyone, which isn't the case, as you and I agree on here.
Good point. For an hourglass figure I'll bet a peplum makes the ass SING. I have the world's flattest ass, so a peplum would just look like a muffin top that spilled WAY over.
Swapnil seems to have given up but I will say - i don't think he had a great client either. maybe it was the editing but it seemed like he wasn't getting much from her other than "cover my arms and legs". But there is SO MUCH he could have done.
Oh, but Zac. LOL. THe look on his face when Swapnil was like "I'm questioning my talent". Zac was hysterical. And just OVER Swapnil entirely.
Ashley - I'm kind of baffled by her right now. this was "her" challenge. She had nothing, NOTHING, in her arsenal of previous designs she's done at home that she could have used?? Up until now, she's becoming a one trick pony but she's also not designing for who she wants to design for. She finally gets that client and.... nothing?
Candace. I fully expect to see her in the final. She's really talented. But man, that outfit was just BAD. BAD.
I actually liked Ashley's dress in shape and form, I think it was that ugly Laura Ashley reject fabric that didn't make it work. If it had been monochromatic or if the peplum had been in a darker color than the rest of the dress it would have been cute.
I just like her the most and want to make her stop crying. Especially because she wears a lot of foundation so it makes it super obvious. Your hair is purple! You are bold! Just do it! TM Nike!
I would love to watch a Zac/Swapnil showdown. Straight up backstabbing chit chat style over glasses of champagne. The words would be CUTTING.

I basically agree with everything everyone is saying. I'm happy that Kelly won. I really just love her. I think one of the reasons she takes criticism well and did well in this challenge is because she doens't have an ego.
Watching Tim say buh-bye to Swapnil was so awkward. I agree that Swapnil's client was difficult to work with. He really phoned it in, though. She nailed it when she told him that he had a look in mind first and just wanted to make it work for this challenge.
Watching the women walk the runway makes you appreciate how effortless the models make it look.

So totally agree. I like her. She seems down to earth.
And really, I HOPE Tim doesn't use the save on Swapnil. The next elimination - it could be one of the ones that are good and are TRYING hard and putting their all into it. I'd actually be pissed if Tim used it on Swapnil and then Candace gets the boot next time and Tim can't save her.
I'm kind of disappointed with everyone this season. I'm pissed Swapnil just didn't have the passion. I liked some of his stuff and wish that he gave it his all.
Kelly could be goood, if she just stays away from junior stuff. Edmond is ok, but kind of boring.
I always think the 'real women' challenges set some of these designers up for failure. There's blame to share but one of the reasons these women were chosen was that they needed a makeover. Yet the consult starts with "what do you like?" "What do you want?" Haven't we established that these women cannot be entrusted with their own taste/style? The consultation usually yields uninspiring info (e.g., I like blue - wow, really!! blue piping + dominatrix!) or the wrong approach (e.g., cover me head to toe w/flow-y fabric...).
