I'm coming upon my first international trip with an iphone; granted I won't have service and will be limited to whatever wifi is available; but do you have any app recs?
The only useful thing (assuming it's international, idk) is Waze. Other ideas?
Depending on what airline you're flying, some of them have helpful apps. I really like Delta's, for checking in, mobile boarding passes, tracking checked bags, flight status, etc.
US Air doesn't have one, and United's is kind of lame, so it's pretty airline dependent.

Waze works in Chile, that's all I know
I know some of the travel guides (pretty sure Lonely Planet) have city guide apps. And I would assume TripAdvisor has an app too?
Otherwise I know about but haven't used Award Wallet. It's more general because the idea is to keep track of your various frequent flier miles, hotel points, etc, but it might be helpful to start using it.

I have:
Tripadvisor Tripit Delta American airlines Kayak Groupon (great for looking up meal deals while away and other deals while at home) Living Social Currency ( its a currency converter)
I've also had map apps that as long as the info is cached they can be used internationally
All of these apps are free (I never pay for apps)
They can all be used internationally as long as you get a wifi connection
