DS decided to poo on the potty last night. I am not ready for this - I like diapers. I haven't done any research or anything. He is only 25 months, so I thought I had some time. However, now that this has happened, I have two questions:
1. How do you clean your little portable potty? I just used the diaper sprayer (we used to use cloth) to spray it down in the toilet. Should I get some lysol wipes or something?
2. How do you handle wiping? I had no idea what to do so I took him over to the changing pad. He didn't seem to happy about it - it was like he wanted to wipe over the toilet or something.
Sorry so gross. I just have no idea! I guess I could read a book or something?

Disclaimer: DS1 just turned 3 and has just started pt-ing. We use the baby bjorn toilet ring, so I can't answer your first question. At daycare they have the kids bend over and touch their toes to wipe after a poop.
1. dump the potty, then rinse in the sink. I clean it once a week when I clean the rest of the bathroom. May be gross to some, but it doesn't get that dirty. She only pees in the potty does not poop.
2. Pee wipe is easy. Poop not so much. Sorry no help on that. See number 1. grrr I wish she would poop!
We dump in the toilet, then spray the little potty with Clorox spray and rinse.
DH taught the kids to "assume the position". They spread their feet apart and bend over, putting their hands on the wall, the edge of the tub, or the sink so that we can wipe them. It cracked me up, but it does make it easier to wipe!

just from experience - even if he pooped on the potty he might not be ready for full on potty training.
2 of my sons (my older son + one of the twins) but started asking to use the potty right at 2yo. I was NOT prepared for it at all with my older son (i was about to have the twins)... both did great and used the potty almost all of the time - but then got bored with it and went backwards and had NO interest in the potty --- the fun was gone, etc. So we went back to pullups and then did the 3-day method when they turned 3 and it worked great for them.
Grayson (the other twin) never once showed an interest... he has a speech delay (receptive/expressive) so he's a little behind with everything. We did the 3-day with him, too, when the twins turned 3. He also did great- then went backwards -- just like his 2 brothers did at 2yo. So we're letting him use pullups again and at 3.5 (our week off afeter xmas) we'll do the 3-day again and i'm guessing he'll be ready then.
so don't be frustrated if it doesn't work out now... and don't feel like you have to PT just b/c he's asking to go now and then.
As for cleaning- i dump in the toilet - wipe up any poop smears with TP and put in the toilet- then spray with antibac spray (lysol or whatever) and wipe with paper towel and put that in the garbage.... then rinse with water from the tub. For pee i just dump in the toilet and rinse with water from the tub. I'm not so anal about sprays, etc with just pee
As for wiping- they bend over and touch their toes so i can wipe their butts well and see that everything is gone. Sounds funny, but it works. DS1 is older now (5) and still needs help wiping- we just wipe him when he's still sitting on the toilet now.
I just dump the pee and rinse with water. We have a potty ring too and I encourage him to poop in the big potty so I dont have to clean poop out of the little potty because it crosses me out Lol. He has only looped in his little potty once and I let DH deal with it and have no idea how he cleaned it. He still wears a diaper or pull up for sleep and a lot of times he will poop in that.

Someone gave me the idea of lining the potty with a plastic bag, then putting a diaper in it. Seems like a lot of work, but a great idea if the potty is needed on a long road trip with few rest areas. The person suggesting it did it all the time. I couldn't be bothered. Quick rinse and soap for pee, dump poop, wipe out with baby wipe, then soak with hot soap and water. Water and bleach once in a while.
If your kid likes to play with the potty, then I'd be reaching for disinfecting wipes. My kids don't, so I just consider the inside of the little potty to be dirty like a regular potty and don't worry about it.
Wiping... the put their hands on the edge of the tub or on the toilet seat and stick their butts out for wiping. DS prefers that I lay him on his belly across my knees and wipe him, but does the other method for everyone else (I sit on the edge of the tub, when we're out, he's fine with the leaning method).
