Dyeing fabric black?

Had anyone had success with this? I'm trying to dye some white cotton onesies black, and my first batch came out charcoal gray. Googling tells me that dyeing black is difficult, especially if you're working with RIT. I followed the instructions exactly and think my dye bath was too dilute.

Any tips or should I just bite the bullet and pay $8 per onesie on primary.com?

I don't know about dying but do you have an H&M with a baby section nearby? they have solid black onesies, less than $8

I never thought about checking Hobby Lobby. Thanks!

I was thinking it is so damn hard to find plain solid onesies in colors other than white, navy, or baby blue. I was just looking in the wrong places!

ditto this, my store has white/grey/black/blue.  it's where i always get onesies and baby shirts for customizing!

I would size up on the Hobby Lobby ones - I think they run small especially if you've got a chunky baby. (I do lol.)
