Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

I'm in a similar boat my medical bills are killing me. I haven't received any from my MFM specialist yet and now I am scared. (It sucks to have had three appointments but not to have received your first bill!). Hope your OB can provide a more cost effective solution!
I had a good appointment today. Everything is right on track. HB was at 152 today. I've got to wait for a phone call to schedule my a/s. Since my RE didn't do any of the bloodwork early on I had to have 9 vials taken today! Part of them were for the quad screen and then to check my thyroid but I don't know what all the rest were for. I also have to go back one morning and do my 1hr glucose test. I also got my flu shot today.
Everything is pretty quiet here. My next scan is next week. I've got 2 back to back with a growth scan and a fetal echo. After that we are all systems go for our Disney trip with DS!!

Does anyone who had PIO injections still feel sore around the injection sites? If I rub the area hard, it feels bruised. It's been ~14 weeks since we stopped the daily shots. I'm not worried about it, just wondering if anyone experienced the same after prolonged IM injections.
I was only on PIO for a few weeks but I swear it took MONTHS for the soreness to go away! And even when I thought I had healed, if I would run the soreness would come back!
Okay I am annoyed. I haven't gotten the MFM to code my first visit appropriately. I just got my EOB back from the second visit. I have a $175 hospital copay every appointment for the u/s and the physician office visit is at $0 (like all my other pregnancy related u/s and visits). I find it so annoying that I have to pay $175 every 2-4 weeks to be told "okay, let's keep an eye on the kidneys. We'll see what they look like after birth." I kinda want to see if I can have the scans done at OB and meet with MFM, or if it's really necessary for me to have these $175 scans every few weeks. They've told me there will be no alterations to the timing or type of delivery based on them. Do you think it's worth asking or am I being too cheap?
I'm going to PM you the verbose version of my answer, but the short version is does your OB have the same imaging capability as the MFM?
I don't know, it's a question I have for them for sure! Edit: I assume not, but I also don't know if what they are following needs a detailed scan. Are they just checking size? That seems like OB could check. Are they trying to check anatomy to see if there is a structural issue? That seems more like a MFM appt. I don't love the MFM I see, we don't get a lot of info from them. My last appoint he was like "so you know there's a problem with the baby's kidneys? We will check them again in a month. By the way the baby is really big and so are you. Are you sure you don't have GD?"
boiler717 is it possible to see another MFM? Call it a second opinion (in a hunt for better bedside manner)?
I get all growth scans at MFM (my OBs office doesn't even have an u/s tech there f/t; if their tech is out the OBs do it themselves), so my perspective might be a little skewed. Are they checking blood flow from the kidney every time?
I don't think so, I can't even schedule with a specific doctor -- I just see whoever is doing office visits that day which they don't tell you when you schedule. I've seen two at the same practice. I'm 90% sure they don't check blood flow from the kidney, just umbilical cord blood flow. I will ask more questions about what they are looking at tomorrow (because I'm guessing now there's no way to get an OB scan before my 8 am appt when it's after 3:30).
This is where I am. I get disappoint when when weddings don't have cake either.
Lol, I'm clearly the minority on this issue then. I just don't like cake that much. Cookies, yes. Pie? Please! Cheesecake, definitely! Cake and cupcakes... meh. I hope we can still be friends.
boiler717, I'd definitely ask. But then, I balk at the idea of having to pay anything for any health appointment ever.
belovedbride07, I hope it goes okay for you. I just finished the 2hr test, and it was much easier than I thought. I still have a bit of a fussy tummy, so I was worried about feeling sick, but mostly I was just tired and hungry. My drink tasted like that sugary orange drink McDonald's used to serve to children. But it was okay, and I managed to keep it down.
I also went out today and voted. I really hope we get a new government out of this election!

We won't be fighting over cake if we ever attend the same function, so of course
The scan today showed the right kidney is still enlarged. We go for one more follow-up, and have to make sure they scan the kidneys 2 days after birth (he said they will probably forgot unless we remind them). I asked if we could meet with the urologist ahead of time to talk about the game plan for post-birth (watching for awhile, surgery, etc) he said we didn't have to, we can just find out after birth but I think I would feel better being able to absorb and ask questions now vs 2 days post partum. Size of the baby is much better, 3 lbs 4 oz, 60-something percentile. Fluid looked good. When she went to weigh me she put the scale on 150, and I said "oh honey, that's really sweet" and moved it allllllll the way over. Her eyes got wide and she laughed and said "I never would have a guessed anywhere close to that!" So that made me feel a little better. Overall up 2 lbs since my last MFM a month ago. MFM didn't say anything about my weight or GD type questions either, yay! Oh and apparently they told me the wrong thing about the co-pays. It's only the office I went to last time that's a hospital copay. They said I can do the rest of my scans at the office I went to today. So other than the kidney still being large things are pretty good! OB appt is tomorrow.

boiler717, it sounds like mostly good news. I'm wondering if you can break down this kidney issue for me. Previously, both kidneys were enlarged and the baby seemed big, correct? And now, the baby's size is back on track and the left kidney is fine? It sounds like you still need more information yourself, but what kinds of complications can you expect from the enlarged right kidney? Is it possible it will have resolved on its own by the next scan? Is surgery the worst-case scenario?
So, at my 19w a/s, both kidneys were enlarged. At my 25w scan, the left kidney was "barely" above normal and looked structurally normal. The right kidney at this scan was "significantly" enlarged and was shaped funny (I don't remember how they worded the shape). Today (29w) they said the left kidney was "basically" normal -- still on the high end of normal but not concerning. He said "we still need to watch the right one." I asked if it was better or worse than my previous scan and he said "well the baby is bigger so it's kidney is bigger." He said there is still a chance that the ultrasound after birth can show that the problem has gone away. Apparently progesterone can relax the ureter so that the kidney doesn't drain fluid and once the baby is out it goes away, or it can be enlarged because of a blockage in the ureter that requires surgery to fix. I asked if the longer it went on or the larger it was made it more or less likely to reverse and he said "well it can happen either way." Apparently it is worse if it is both kidneys are involved but I don't know if ours counts as a unilateral or bilateral case now. He also said the baby may need daily antibiotics after birth to prevent a UTI but to ask once the baby is born. So overall next step is seeing what it looks like at 34w and having a scan after 2 days. I'm not sure if the follow up is in the days vs weeks vs months time frame -- some stuff I found online said its better to have surgery immediately before the baby is more aware, others said its better to wait months or even years to see if it improves, so I really don't have a good idea of what we are looking at in terms of follow up. It sounds like the surgery is a 3-4 day hospital stay which seems pretty extensive, but apparently our hospital does a robotic procedure in some cases so I don't know if that lessens the recovery time? As for size, at 19w (which I thought was at 20w until I checked my u/s today!) the baby was 1 lb 12 oz (99th percentile), normal is 12 oz. At 25w baby was 2 lbs 6 oz (99th percentile), normal is 1 lb 6 oz. Today at 26w it was 3 lbs 4 oz (60-something percentile), normal is 2 lbs 14 oz. So today was basically right on track now. Head size was good too. Hopefully that means less scrutiny about my weight and not repeating my GD test in 2 weeks but we will see what they say at my OB appt tomorrow.

It was amazing! Basically dippable frosting. Funfetti cake mix, 2 c vanilla yogurt, 1 c cool whip.
There's a non-light version that doesn't use yogurt. So delicious. omg. I totally forgot about this stuff and that's probably for the better. It's been so long since I had real dessert, I'd probably eat an entire bowl.

I'm looking at this and thinking, 'well its got yogurt in it, so I can totally count this as a dairy serving'

What's in the non light version? Butter?!
Cream cheese, yo. creeeeam cheeeese. And I think powdered sugar? I forget. I remember it took me a long time to find the non-light version (I hate yogurt), and when I was making it, I was like "there is no way this is going to mix up correctly... But it did. And it was divine. It reminds me of dunkaroos from back in the day.
Had my NT scan and they spent a TON of extra time on me due to DS's issues. But *knock on wood* everything looks perfect this time around!
Last time I had velementous cord insertion in addition to everything else (basically the cord doesn't go straight into the placenta... it's at an angle which made it hard to pass nutrients from me to baby). The sonographer didn't think I'd have that problem again! Woohoo!!
I do have another anterior placenta, but it is what it is. The sonographer said i'll appreciate it in 3rd trimester. I had one with DS and he still kicked like crazy, so I'm not overly concerned.
No. The lab said the results would be in by the end of the day yesterday, but they go to my doctor to let me know. I haven't received a call yet, but I'm just assuming no news is good news at this point. I figure if I fail, they'll probably want me to know ASAP.
