I don't "go here "... But this post is hilarious, I can't leave it alone. It's a CAT. Sounds to me you have the problem with it and are blaming it on your kid. Was it giving you guys evil eyes, hissing & snarling while following you on your walk? What do you want people to do with cats that are inside/outside cats? Chain them outside? Hahaha, I just find this funny.. It's a cat. Lol.

Leave opened cans of Fancy Feast in a neighbor's yard, preferably one several houses away from your house. Continue until the cat decides you lot aren't worth it, and chooses the food neighbor as his next human.
This is my favorite post ever. I'm silent laughing/crying at my desk at the stories/gifs. How can you not love cats?? Your child clearly needs to spend more time on the internet.
I don't know where everyone got the idea that we were encouraging the kids to be scared. Of course we don't want them scared of cats (though DS is highly allergic, so doesn't really need to be around them anyway) and we've tried to diffuse the situations. Doesn't mean a 5 year old is going to say, "you know what? You're right, that cat is no longer scary to me" in a manner of a day.
BUT I also don't want the cat in my private back yard. We like to leave our back door open (we have one of those mesh magnetic doors and the cat found that fun to play with, so we had to take it down so he didn't rip it up-thankfully it still had its claws) so the kids and dog can come and go as they please over the weekends/evening. Not sure why that's such a ridiculous request.
But her DS is allergic so I can see where the fear is coming from. Does he have a reaction when the cat comes around?
How is this any different from a random dog running around a neighborhood? To be honest, I wouldn't like a cat running into my garage (or even into my house). I'm not sure what you can really do other than talking to the owner or set up something in the yard to scare the cat away- like bells or something? I have no idea, never had cats, sorry!
Well, I have a way, although it's probably flameful.
We have had a really bad raccoon problem lately. They tear up our yard, knock down our trash, and spread it everywhere.
We got a "humane" cage (I know, I know) and put cat food as bait. (The cage just closes after the animal goes in. The animal is not hurt in any way. Well, except that it is confined to a cage.) We caught a raccoon once, and our gardener took it. (I don't know where he took it or what he did with it.) (Hush, I already said this is flameful.)
Anyway, months later, we had raccoon problems again, so we set the trap again.
Except this time it caught a cat.
We tried to set the cat free, but she was SO ANGRY, and neither of us wanted to risk being scratched to pieces. So we slipped in more food and a bowl of water, and she was there for a few hours until the gardener came. He released her with ease because he had giant scratch-proof gloves.
We haven't see the cat since.
My kid was sad. She watched that cat in the cage the whole time and waved. (We brought the cat onto our shaded patio next to our sliding door.)
