i will not engage, i will not engage, i will not engage but I will bitch on GBCN
Co-irker: post pic that says marriage = 1 man + 1 woman
Person 1: Name! This shocks me!
Co-irker: It shouldn't!
Person 1: Hmmmm
Co-irker: I checked my wedding vows. They were pretty clear....this man and this woman, blessed by God. Didn't mention any same sex stuff in there.
Person 1: Huh... Ok
Co-irker: Everyone is free to love who they want..but some things have a right to remain sacred and untampered with. I believe marriage needs to be held to that standard! It has always meant one thing, and it always should!
Person 1: Ooooookay. Hitting dislike button here.
Co-irker: That's ok! We all have different opinions on this one and that's ok!
Person 1: Yeah just keep in mind those same vows also say to death due us part but it's not always easy to meet those standards either... Therefore I choose not to judge.
Co-Irker: I'm not judging. It's just my opinion! I think if we could manage the death til us part portion it would be better for us all too. We just need to make better choices!
Person 2: I'm with you, Co-Irker
Person 1: Convenient
Person 3 (person 1's DD): Kinda with my mum, respect your opinion, but.... Letting two people that love each other get married does not mean you should hold your marriage any less of a standard. To each their own I suppose.
Co-Irker: Why is it that gays get to express their opinions, but straight people have no right to state theirs?
Person 3: Im not gay. Lol
Co-irker: Lol, no Person 3 - you aren't! It's just that if you are for gay marriage you have rights to talk it up everywhere. There is another view and people who have it should also be able to express their thoughts without upsetting people. It's not a fight. It's not a judgement. It's simply how people feel and we all have a right to that.
Co-irker's DH: I agree. I've seen lots of pro gay marriage stuff on my facebook lately. I'm tempeted to give my opinion each time but out of respect for the belief of my freinds, I don't. Remember....more than 50% of the people in this state have voted twice against this. That means that more than half of the people around you every day are against it. It shouldn't be shocking when someone stands up against it.
Ugh. I am pretty sure I recognize your sig from my local board on TN so yeah ... our state fails here, hardcore, as does your co-irker.
How hard is it to understand that it's unconstitutional for the government to give or deny legal rights to people based on religious beliefs? And the belief in "marriage is one woman and one man blessed by God till (they decide they like a different man or woman better and get divorced tee hee hee yay traditional marriage!!)" is a religious belief.

block their ass, defriend, whatever, if it makes you angry and you don't like the hate - get rid of it. It's a co-worker. It be a little different if it was say your sister-in-law.
