How old was your daughter when she started using deoderant? XH has mentioned to me several times that he noticed that DD1 has slight BO from her underarms. I have never noticed this. I don't have a problem with her using it if it's necessary and/or if it's going to make her more comfortable (although she has never mentioned a need or want to use it), but I was just curious as this seems so young to me. I can't recall how old I was when I started using it. Does 8 years old seem too young to anybody else?
I would say if there is a BO issue time to start also. I would just bring it up causally like let her see you do it and ask if she wants some too. I have a 21 year daughter and do not remember how it started for her or me. My 8 year old loves to do stuff I do.
I don't think there is an age that is appropriate, if it's an issue, then she should start using it.
Usually every other day. XH said he's noticed it even after she showers so she must not be washing thoroughly. I honestly haven't noticed it, but yeah, I agree, she should start using it. Even if I haven't noticed yet, that doesn't mean it's not there. I actually just got a bunch of free deoderants from a run I did over the summer. I'll give one to her and see if it improves. If not, I'll try a different brand.
I guess I'm in denial about her growing up. Next she'll be shaving her legs
It totally ruined the movie, but I'm glad she said something before someone at school did.
Yes, this is a concern of mine. I definitely do not want someone at school to be the one to mention it to her. A friend of mine in high school noticed a chin hair that I never knew I had and announced it very loudly in lunch. I was mortified, and have been plucking it ever since.
I talked to her a little bit about her underarms. She said she has noticed they get sweaty. I had a sample of Degree that I gave her to try. She liked it so far. I wonder if they still sell Teen Spirit? I loved that deodorant!
I was about 9 when I started to need/use deodorant. So I think if there's BO then it's necessary. Wow, teen spirit...haven't thought of that in a while! I used teen spirit and tussy which smelled strongly like baby powder.
DD is 8 and just came home asking for some because all of the girls in her class use it after gym class. I was hesitant as I don't think she needs it but I figure it cant be a bad thing to start doing.
