We have Pet Plan, for emergencies only. It wasn't worth it for us to get coverage for their annual checkups. They get their vaccines and heartworm tests at a low-cost clinic run by the local animal shelter, and the monthly premiums with wellness coverage cost more than paying for the vet checkup visit out of pocket.
So, the insurance is basically for times when Carl gets into his bag of kibble and eats 7 days' worth at once, or finds a disposable razor and chews it up.

I second Pet Plan. I have researched this over and over again. Both my dogs are on PP and I have submitted claims and been reimbursed in a timely matter.
They are one of the only companies that if say on yr 4 of owning your dog and having their insurance, say if dog develops diabetes in yr 4, they will cover it. Come year 5 when you resign with PP, they will not act as if the diabetes was a 'pre existing' condition and continue to cover your pet. Whereas, with other companies, even if the dog DEVELOPED the diabetes UNDER THEIR COVERAGE in year 4, they will consider it a NEW plan come year 5 and consider it a pre existing condition and now not cover your pet! So freakin' dumb, but true. I found this with MANY other companies.
