I had a clogged duct that wouldn't clear for over a week so I had an ultrasound on it Weds and it looked like it wasn't an abscess but they drained it and had the cultures tested. Well this afternoon the clog was back to the same size and painful again and the MD called and the cultures came back and there was bacteria so it was an infection. Fun. Except it was 4:30 on Friday and I am out of state at my moms and they said I need it drained again so I am at the ER. I had to leave my 5 week old at home with DH and my mom with only 1 bottle and I'm freaking out. Send good vibes please.

So many ((hugs)) and prayers. I hope they are able to get it drained fast and you are home with your LO, DH, and mom soon. Prayers for no more clogged ducts too.
I'm in RI but down at SC. I wanted to be close to DD in case they need to bring her to me to feed. But I feel like now I should have gone to W&I since they might be better equipped. People keep asking if I plan on continuing nursing, she's only 5 weeks old! Ugh.

You poor thing. Do you have a pump with you? or do they have one at the hospital you can use? Maybe someone can come grab the milk if needed.
No I left my pump at home thinking I wouldn't need it. I might send DH to go get a hand pump but using s hospital pump here is a good idea, I will ask them about that.

Definitely ask! SC is the go-to hospital for breastfeeding problems in RI. They have the best lactation department and I'm sure they have a pump you can use.

I can't wait to be in RI.
I'm very excited about my IRL parenting "village" growing!
I was wondering how things were going for you. I hoped no news was good news.
I hope you were able to get ahold of a hospital pump. That's what I did. I was admitted & a general surgeon did my surgery at midnight. Everyone kept asking me the same. DS2 was 3 weeks old. I was a hormonal, emotional wreck, but we made it...and you will, too. It's OK if your LO gets a bottle of formula while you're there. Mine did. He took it without complaint & never took another bottle in his life (for better or worse!).
PM me if you have any questions or want to commiserate.
I ended up being there around 2.5 hours. I started antibiotics and my breast is painful but took Advil so hoping it improves. I got home around 7:30 and DD has been nursing on and off since then but is about to fall asleep. I'm relieved to be back home with her.
Thanks for the well wishes, I'm hoping the antibiotics kick this for good and we aren't doing this twice a week!!
