We're looking for basement furniture, and I want something comfy. I don't want to spend a ton of money, because I'm sure we'll spend most of our time down there, and between 3 animals, a 7 yo boy, and a baby (!), it's bound to be spilled on.

We have a 6 year old Ektorp and a new kivik. I love the Ektorp better than the fancy leather couches FIL left when we bought his house. Just get a washable cover.
Eta: IKEA delivery isn't bad. I think it was $75? We just rented a uhaul can today to take it from the old place to the new one and that was $60.

I have a Simmons Champion Mocha from Big Lots. It's usually on sale for 299 but I got it for a little less with a 20 percent off everything coupon. It's held up well with two kids and a dog.
I'm alone in my opinion here, but I hate our Ektorp. We bought one in March after all the rave reviews. It's not that comfy.
Also, we got the one with the chaise and the bottom of that slipcover is a thinner material. It ripped when putting it back on after the 2nd wash. I emailed and spoke to IKEA customer service and they told me I was SOL since it was 3 months old. So now I have to try really hard not to get anything on that slipcover because every time I put it back on it rips a little more.
We are buying a new couch in a couple weeks.
The trick wth the ektorp is you gotta put the cover back on when it's still slightly damp so it stretches and doesn't rip. And you cannot EVER dry it. I wash in late morning with bleach (we have white covers), stretch it out in between two chairs and let it air dry in the sun for a bit. Then pull it inside. Then put it on the couches right before we go to bed still damp. It dries overnight.
We've had an ektorp for 10 years now. Love this thing. Ours is super comfortable. We will prob eventually buy a new one and move this one to our game room.

You just gave me an epiphany moment. We have a storage ottoman from ikea with a removable cover. The corners of the base are torn and I'm now realizing it's because I put it on when it's dry. So, thanks!
