Hey, ladies. I'm from New Hampshire originally, and my sister works in Boston (lives in Brighton, actually).
I'm looking for a Christmas gift idea for her. Maybe a gift certificate, a membership somewhere, an experience gift? I've spent a ton of time in Boston, but not in the last 5 years. I'd love to give something that is Boston-specific, that she can get a lot of use out of in the city.
She's mid-20s, single and lives with her male best friend, who happens to be gay. So maybe something they could do together? She has a steady job but is just starting out, so nothing that requires too much out of pocket expense.
What's your price point? I've been wanting to do a cooking "class" at Stir. (Really, I think you just drink wine and watch/listen to a chef cooking your food, I don't think you have to do any work.) stirboston.com/category/class/.
Does she bike at all? A yearlong membership to Hubway, the bike share program, could be good.
If she's into fitness, yoga and barre at Exhale and spinning at Flywheel are my favorite classes.
I think Broadway in Boston usually does some seasonal packages for multiple shows. boston.broadway.com/season/ The Boston Ballet may do the same.
I haven't posted much here, but was just browsing around and saw this post. There's a chocolate buffet on certain Sundays at the Langham hotel downtown that you could get a gift certificate for--I've always wanted to try it, it's supposed to be amazing and could be a fun experience type gift.
Hmm, not sure what kind of stuff she's into but basing off of my own interests I'll suggest a rock climbing or trapeze class Not sure what part of town she's in but there are at least a couple of different locations for each of those activities. You can buy multiple classes or memberships for these, but probably not worth doing until you know she likes them.
I'm getting thrown by the "get a lot of use out of" part of the requirements. I don't know what your price point is but there aren't many multi-use gift cards that are budget-friendly. You could do a membership to any number of museums if the area if she's into them (MFA, MOS, ISG, ICA, etc. etc.).
Sorry about the vague post-it was a post and run.
My price point is around $150.
i guess by "get a lot of use out of it" I am hoping that it can be a set of classes, or a membership, or a set of a few (whatever it is) so that it's not just a one-off thing.
But for something really fun it could be a one time thing.
She works a desk job, likes chocolate, the UK, travel, all kinds of cuisine, not too sporty.

We did a group cooking class for an outing at work once, and it was really fun. This looks even better.
What about walking/wine/food tours of different neighborhoods? I know there's a North End one, and I think there are also tours for the South End and Chinatown. In addition to the Langham like mannah suggested, there's also chocolate-focused tours:
