I am sorry if this is a dumb question. My first son had eating problems so I feel almost new with this.
Can a baby overeat on solids? He will stop if he has had too much of a puree but if actual bits of food are put in front of him he will ear and eat and eat.
Tonight he had about a half cup total of food. That seems like a lot even though it was healthy stuff.
FWIW he is still drinking the same amount of breastmilk.
I don't think so. Dd is a huge eater. Some days we just sit there wide eyed and watch her. She started dropping nursing sessions around 9 mos, gained less than a lb between 9 and 12 mos and is in the 40th percentile for weight. It used to concern me how much she ate, but now I fully believe she knows what she's doing.

DD1 was a huge eater when we introduced solids through BLW and was pretty much a human garbage disposal until about 16 months. Then she stopped eating a ton and now goes is spurts of eating or just light grazing.

Overeating is considered a learned behavior. Babies aren't really capable of that; they'll eat when they're hungry and stop when they are full. Some days that means they'll eat or drink a lot (DH still calls those "growing days", and our kids are almost 6 and 9!), and on other days not so much.
