Anyone have any pics to share? I am renovating my closet and looking for clever storage ideas. Electrician is coming tomorrow. So I was wondering is it overkill to have one outlet on each wall? Is there anything you wish you had in your closet that you don't have?
@hully I looked around for a little but we have an angled wall for the ceiling. So most pics that are a standard room won't work for our closet. I was also thinking of putting skylights in the ceiling but changed my mind.

We had one of the closet design places come in to design and install our closet to get the most out of our space. We love the design and can get a lot more in the space than before. The installation people were a completely different story. We finally got everything settled from the damage they left behind. We have a huge window in our closet and I'd have it taken out if we weren't on the National Historic Registry, but I can't touch anything visible to the outside. Don't do a skylight. Putting light on bags, shoes, and clothes only runs the risk of the sun fading them and damage. Get good lighting instead and make the room primarily white with color in the accessories. Our closet is 8X12 with 14 foot ceilings. We built up as much as we could and we still have a ton of room to fill.
My dream closet would have a small space to hang outfits for the upcoming week or any upcoming special events. In my closet room (before it became a nursery), that was an entire metal rack to hang outfits.
FormerCityGirl that sucks about the window. Have any pics to share?
DH was thinking about sliding in pre built cabinets and/or bookshelves on the smaller height wall. I love that idea! I'll see if I can find pics to show what I mean.
Do I want a pull down ironing board from the wall? or just keep my normal foldaway one? Or maybe I should save that for a future laundry room? Our washer dryers are in the unfinished basement and this closet is upstairs. It's a hike just to bring clean clothes to the closet.

They did all of the design while they consulted with us and custom fitted it. We got free installation and 40% off and basically just had to give them flat white walls.
Here's the really skinny side. The shelves are about 10 inches and we have 12 with space left on the ceiling. There's a couple of peg boards for jewelry, belts, and scarves. Excuse the drop cloth. This is right when it was finished. We can still fit a cheval mirror by the window with a step stool behind it since I can't reach the top without it. I plan on getting a mirror with storage. Even with the closet people, we still had to sand down their spackle and repaint it to match everything else.
Peg boards.
Here's the side with the bars. There's also a shelf on top for more storage.
We have this for lighting. I didn't like it at first, but on a couple of chilly mornings I realized that it was the only heat in the closet from the bulbs. We have no vents in the closet and you can see the size of the window. I wouldn't take space with an ironing board. Worst case scenario, you can use Wrinkle Release, steam stuff with your shower while you are getting ready, or throw a towel on the floor and iron that way. Take that with a grain of salt though since we have a second floor laundry.
ETA: We have a 101 year old cellar that you enter from the back yard that is creepy. The plumber and HVAC guys think it's creepy. Think haunted house, Dexter (Showtime show), and way scary creepy. I don't go in there alone unless it's a true emergency. If they hadn't moved the laundry upstairs due to house fire number 2 that we were not here for, it would be next to the dining room and off the living room. I'm so glad it is where it is. Haha! Now no more fires!
