One of our head librarians just let us know she took another job. The library had been without a director since April and my boss and I have been doing that job on top of our regular stuff, and now we have to add another job to that. The actual librarian stuff will be picked up by another librarian(s), but all the admin stuff-- ordering, memberships, committee work, etc.-- all falls on me. No additional pay. Gah.
That sucks. Did they say when they would begin the hiring process?
Well we started the hiring for the Director position in May and haven't found anyone, so...let's just say there is not a plethora of viable candidates out there! Should be easier to find another instructional librarian, I would think. Higher ed hiring is the slowest process ever, though.

I'm glad to hear it's higher Ed in general and not just state universities. I'm finally fully staffed after the hiring freeze, but now I'm expected to get everything done that I couldn't get done when under staffed! I feel ya. I hope they fill both positions quickly!
