Does anyone actually know where this island is? 90% of the people I have told about my trip have said "Where is that?" lol. (It's next to Aruba/Curacao in the Dutch Caribbean)
Here are a few of the photos from our trip. Almost all of our time was spent underwater
Scuba diving selfie!
Sea Turtles -- notice there is one is the background too!
Eagle Ray
Balloonfish (they are so cute!)
Lots and lots of little fish
One of the popular dive sites -- the white huts are old slave huts. For scuba diving on Bonaire, almost all of the dive sites are accessible from shore. Just park your truck, put on your gear and walk on in! It's a small island with 80+ dive sites.
Oooh, thanks for sharing! I agree, the pictures are gorgeous (even the random one that is labled "little fish" but is actually Christmas balls on a tree? LOL!). What are you using to take the underwater photos? They're so clear and well-lit.
Sounds like you had an amazing time. I admit I had to Google where Bonaire is, even though I've looked before because I forgot
lol, what?? tinypic fail. It's showing the correct photo on my screen
We have (had...) a little point-n-shoot Canon SD770 in a housing. Sadly, it flooded with salt water on the 2nd to last day and is now dead. We purposely picked a cheap camera -- about $50 used on ebay -- b/c we know there's always a risk taking electronics underwater. DH thinks he messed something up when closing the case that day. Oh well. That camera survived 5 dive vacations, so it didn't owe us much.
We also have this camera, which is great for snorkeling. It's waterproof to 30 feet.
Disclaimer: DH says "it's not the camera. It's the photographer and the editor!" -- He does a good amount of post-processing to pull out the colors and make it look nice
