I have had some really good luck on ebay/poshmark/vinted lately. I am pregnant now and can only wear the 360 sweater but the other items should fit and will be good motivators to get back in shape. I occasionally end up with duds when buying second hand but I have gotten better about purchasing things that will work with my existing wardrobe. I pretty much wash everything when I get it in Eucalan - will probably need to send the leather jackets to the dry cleaner. Have found some other nice things but these are probably some of the best "deals" so far.
Anyone else have some cool finds they want to share?
I have been able to afford much nicer items on the second hand market and the quality is typically better. I just placed an order for some long wrap sweaters from the Loft and the quality is terrible - it is so itchy I am going to have to take them back.
Rock & Republic (this was from before they became a house brand at Kohls) - Keagan Leather Jacket - $10 + $5 shipping - found it online for like $650 at Revolve
Guess Leather Jacket $35 + $5 shipping
360 Cashmere, Wool and Leather Sweater/Poncho - $25 (actually free with coupon) - found it online for ~$400
Aritzia Purple Silk Blouse $2 + $4 shipping - couldn't find the image in purple originally $98
I wish I had more time for shopping consignment/used, I love a good bargain. Great finds!
I actually never make it in to a store. I have been doing it online while waiting for reports to complete for work or while watching TV after the kiddo goes to bed and I am winding down for sleep.
I am always impressed by the ladies on purseforum - they have a thread on there of secondhand finds and some of the stuff is amazing - hermes scarves, chanel, etc.

Where do you have the best luck online? Do you search for specific items? I try, but I always get overwhelmed and not really sure of what search parameters to use.

I search alot by brand. Narrow by size and price. I agree it can be overwhelming and there is a lot of overpriced junk. I use pretty much all of the large sites - ebay/poshmark/vinted. There is mercari which is app only but I find it annoying. It really helps to know your size in the brand before purchasing so you don't get stuck with items that don't fit. Sometimes when I try to venture out to new brands I end up getting things that don't work out. Items that are more flexible in sizing, such as a shirt/sweater may work better than dresses - if that makes sense.
Some folks selling items are great about lots of pictures and details but most are just ok. I try to ask questions but sometimes they are ignored. If something is really cheap I may just buy anyway. All of the sites I believe will work with you if an item is not as described. But with buying used clothing you need to have some flexibility. Buying off season is a great way to get deals. I was able to get a bundle of three great jackets that fit perfectly for $15 2 from Loft, 1 from Gap with free shipping. I washed them in the washing machine on gentle and they turned out fine. So buying things that you can attempt to wash at home is also helpful.
For some items where there is not much detail I try to find a picture online. That is why I ended up purchasing that first jacket in my post. I got lucky in finding a picture of it online and figured I would buy it as the worst case I could probably resell it for what I paid. Turns out it is in really condition.
One thing I like about buying used is I have one DD and another on the way. If I ruin something b/c of the kiddos I won't feel as bad.
pizzapizza what's the story with Eucalan - I've never used it.
I have used it to wash silk, cashmere, and wool successfully. I have also read good things about The Laundress but it is more expensive (I just bought their cedar wool cashmere spray for in between washings). They have it at amazon and it goes on sale pretty frequently. Of all the things I have washed - primarily hand wash - only one silk shirt shrunk.
