I know I don't work, but when I did work (biotech) this meant pretty much anything. I remember a department head (man) wearing mid-thigh exercise shorts like these:
with those toe sandals...what are they called? like these:
That seemed inappropriate to me, but really almost anything went where I was working (and that was true at the three different local biotechs I worked at locally).
Casual = jeans at my company. We are casual all week now, instead of just Fridays. But it's a pretty conservative company, so if casual turns into sloppy, you get the side eye. The general rule of thumb is you take what would be a skirt or slacks outfit, and just replace the slacks or skirt with jeans. So you'd still wear the shoes and top you would wear for business casual. Sneakers are not allowed.
No casual days for us. My last job we were casual all the time. Which mostly meant jeans in place of dress pants. You couldn't wear big sloppy t shirts, or flip flops. I miss that.
it's always casual at my job. i wish it meant nice jeans and a nice top.. unfortunately these people think anything goes.. and i guess i'm ok with it, especially on days i'd like to wear yoga pants to work.
Everyday is casual where I work. People wear shorts, jeans, t-shirts. Anything goes. I used to get questions all the time whenever I wore a dress as to why I was so dressed up. People have stopped asking me now.
Jeans and t-shirts or in warm weather, longer shorts. Today I'm wearing my convertible zippy hiking pants because I couldn't find my jeans, so they're just more an atheltic khaki/cargo look, with sneakers thanks to my knee, and a t-shirt.
The new girl has been wearing flip-flops all week and I totally don't think that's appropriate! But then again, she has been getting on gang busters with that coworker I no longer like as they sit and chatter in Vietnamese to each other..and SHE always wears flip-flops or sandals that are as close as possible to that.
if you dressed up, people assumed you were going to interview at another company and so you got the side-eye for being too over-dressed.
This here too! It's casual everyday and pretty much anything goes any day of the week. People still try to be professional with at least nicer-looking jeans or leggings Mon-Thurs. However, on Fridays everyone wears whatever.
