Last night when we got home from conferences B sidekick developed a low fever and headache. Asleep by 8, up at 10:30 and seemed fine. At 3:30 he came in with fever and headache.
Woke up at 7 and is totally fine. Bouncing around. It doesn't seem to be just the Tylenol. But he can't go in, so I'm at home with him.
We're watching Cars for the 8 millionth time. Save me.

We took DD to the ENT to check her ear tubes and her adenoids. The PA took one look at her tonsils and we were talking surgery. I've mentioned before that she snores, but it's the scary choking snoring that occasionally stops and it sounds like she's not breathing. Her tonsils are so big they are touching - like, it was hard to tell what they were when she showed us.
So, she's having her tonsils out, probably her adenoids if they get in there and see that they are enlarged, and they'll remove the tubes, too. (They are out, but still in the ear canal and the surgery was over 3 years ago.)
Is there a Daniel Tiger episode for this? The surgery isn't until February. DH asked about postponing it to the summer so she wouldn't miss school, but the PA and doctor were pretty clear about not waiting that long.

The day off I have scheduled for next week that I was going to spend sewing will now be spent taking BabyLiu to the dentist to get a cavity filled. Sadly she appears to have inherited my weak teeth. Hopefully she also got my straight teeth because I don't want all my money going to dental work.

Oh no. J may have to have her 2 front teeth pulled. She's 4. They came in with these indented areas on the sides which have slowly eroded away. Luckily the dentist has been watching this since her teeth came in so she knows I'm not a horrible mother but her pediatrician points it out every visit like my daughter survives off of dum-dums and I never brush her teeth. There's nothing we can do except watch it and apply flouride at her cleanings for now.

i had G's parent-teacher conference last night. guys, it was awesome. legit awesome. usually they go like this:
"G is a great girl. she's really sweet and we can tell she's bright but...." and then 15 minutes about how she's not in step with her peers and she's lagging behind in reading and math and they're sure that one day she'll catch up and yadda yadda yadda. that's hard. it's not that i didn't know it but it's disheartening to hear year after year. epecially since she really is bright and smart and it just wasn't coming through in her schoolwork.
last night it was, "G is a great girl. she's amazingly bright. she helps lead class discussions in ELA with reading passages and is so insightful. she's very responsible and has matured more in 1 months than most kids do in a whole year. we can't imagine what class would be like without her." not one "but..." in the mix.
i'm not going to lie, i cried. i couldn't believe it.

We'll start a support group.
I'll join. With B missing one of his front teeth (both baby and adult), I already know we're in for massive dental work over the next several years.
I was singing various nursery rhymes to Ender today, and Old King Cole, Mary Had a Little Lamb, etc. Then I started in on Baa Baa Black Sheep. Holy smokes is that a racially charged rhyme! I'm sure the look of horror on my face as I was singing it as an adult for the first time was priceless.
