YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY - Great job everyone!
I just passed 14,000 words. And hit the second part of my novel, where my character has a flashback to the summer she turned 18 years old. It was the actual part of the story where my mind started writing, the flash forwards in Part 1 and Part 3 were written around this part 2. It has to do with long lost love, of course! I'm super excited now because this is the gooood stuff I might not make it to 15k today because I have a dinner to go to tonight, but I know Wednesday I can write like crazy to catch up/get ahead.
Unless a miracle happens, I'm not hitting 15,000 today. I'm hoping to just hit tomorrow's word count goal today. And since I have dance class tonight, I won't be able to write after about 6:00 (and won't get home until after 9pm).
Right now in my novel I'm doing a lot of rambling. Still trying to get the groove of these characters and this story, and trying to talk my way through all the weird things going on in the town that serves as my setting. I have a feeling it's going to get more exciting here soon, so the word count will probably shoot up when that happens!
I'll have to write about 3k tonight if I want to hit 15k, which is doable. I'm following everyone's suggestion and skipping to a part I'm looking forward to writing instead of where I'm stuck. I haven't written yet today, but H will be home at 6 to take the munchkin and I'll have a free evening. yay!
Tonight I need to write one character's major reveal (hidden identities! OMG!), which should be fun. I'm at almost 17,000 right now, and am hoping to make it to 18,500 before I go to bed.

I started this but I didn't actually get the chance to write until 8:15. In the past two hours I wrote just over 4k. It was slow and painful at first, but things started to roll later. A couple of my sub-plots tied together unexpectedly in the scene I'm writing, which is always a nice surprise.
It's later than I wanted to be up but I got more done than I expected so I couldn't quit. I'm hoping being in the middle of something will help tomorrow. I am going to have a long day (potentially 10.5 hours at work before maybe going to a write in) so I'm going to need the help tomorrow.
Good news: I passed 40k tonight. To celebrate, I'm going to go sleep.
Well, I got back to writing today and got over 3k words done for a total of 19190! My plot is not likely to last me until 50k though, so I will have to find some good plot bunnies along the way. My goal was to get to 20k before the next big event and I'm gonna be pretty damn close to that target.
Just checking in to say it's so interesting to see how differently everyone writes. So far my writing is very much my personality-I hop from scene to scene based on what pops up in my head, then work to link them up later. I'm not even sure how the story will end. Guess I'll find out!
I find it so much easier to write like this! I tried doing the whole outline thing, and just got bored, and it wasn't fun for me. But this year I'm just writing scenes as I think of them, and I'm finding it a lot easier to go back and link them later than trying to get to the point before writing them. I do have a vague idea of how things will end, although I'm not quite sure how I'm going to get there yet, lol.

I don't know how you two can write separate scenes like that! I'd write all the good parts first and get stuck trying to hook them together later. When I write linearly, I can add in new things that develop as my character develops. Lol

I'm more like this too. I have a good idea of where my characters are going to end up and sometimes even know all their fates through their deaths before starting, like in my Titanic novel. I still find that they develop so much and things turn out and connect in ways I didn't know until I write it.
I know I could go back later and fix it all but I also am notoriously bad when it comes to getting around to editing things.
