We are having a pumpkin patch themed birthday party for Apple and I just reserved a local farm for the day, their pumpkin patch will be perfect!
I need ideas for food, the party will start just after lunch but we want to serve a buffet. The party is Oct 20th and the weather around that time can be up in the 80's or cool, Oct is a weird month for weather out here.

What about serving a pasta with TriColored noodles to add in the fall colors. It's affordable and easy. You could do a side salad with walnuts, crasins, etc to add more fall. Then I'd serve cider, hot cocoa, and maybe pumpkin ale for the adults. Dessert I'd have several different fall minis. Like mini pumpkin pies, cobbler etc.
I like the "comfort food" ideas from N2A's link. Mac and cheese, grilled cheese fingers and tomato soup, or a butternut squash and pasta dish (http://www.food.com/recipe/baked-pasta-with-butternut-squash-and-ricotta-289552).
Obviously there will be a fabulous cake, but cider donuts or leaf shaped sugar cookies are other dessert options.
