Last night I didn't get to write and was short by a bit. Today I've cranked out 3k words already and have a bit more time to keep writing. I'm over 19k and feeling great! Really happy with where my story is and where it's going.
I follow @nanowordsprints on twitter and there's the #1kin30 challenge, write 1k words in 30 minutes. It's hard! But today I got 1,148 in a 30 minute sprint! Yay!!
I'm doing pretty well so far today thanks to a quiet work-free morning. I think I'm up to 1,000 words already, and I plan to hunker down with my laptop for at least a couple of hours after the kids go to bed tonight.
I'm still a full day behind, but *shrug*. This is actually not the worst I've ever done at this point in the month. I've had years where I've been several days behind by now, so being only a day behind is actually pretty good for my track record.
I always have my most difficulties writing the very beginnings of novels, because a lot of the time I'm still getting the feel for the characters and the story. My novels are always something of a hot mess until I get to the revision point -- my critique partner HATES helping me fix my first chapters, always. So once I get past about the first quarter of the novel, it's often smooth sailing after that. By then, I'll have a better feel of where I want things to end up, I'll have a ton of ideas of things I want to happen...and once I get to that point, I can crank out the words pretty fast.
So, yeah, still a day behind. Will be getting to at least 16,667 words by the end of tonight (more if I hit my stride), which was yesterday's par. haha

I'm at 17,661 right now, so almost caught up. I hate being constantly behind though so I'm hoping to get ahead tonight. H is working late so it's just me and the computer now that LO is down for the night.
That's all I got for now...
eta: ended up at 18,422 right now. I feel a little better than I did earlier now that I'm caught up. I can't believe we're supposed to be at 20k tomorrow. This is the furthest I've gotten since 2011 when I won. Whew!
I am barely keeping the pace. Going on a week of house guests, I find it hard to concentrate. So tired tonight, I think this is it: Today 1783 Total 28512

My sister and I are sort of co-writing. The book I'm doing is mine alone, because it's more backstory than anything, but the whole complicated tale is something we're doing together. I have realized that we didn't exactly establish the constraints between two types of magic and how they would interact. I needed that information... oh, it would have been useful to know before I started this scene.
I haven't heard back so I'm just rolling with what I think would make the most sense and will edit if I need to later. Thankfully most of the scene would be usable even if I'm wrong so for now I'll focus on the mantra "Get it written, don't get it right."
