This upcoming Sunday we are supposed to hit the halfway mark of whatever your goal for this year is. If it is to finish the book I have no tips, but if you have a number in mind figure out how much you need by then.
On Facebook I saw something with Oscar the grouch that says "Just because you're trash doesn't mean you can't do great things. It's a trash CAN not a trash CANNOT." I think my novel needed to hear that info and yours may as well.
How is everybody doing through Week 2? Any complaints or achievements to share? If you're interested you can head over to the summary thread and share yours if you haven't already.
I really have no end # in mind. My goal is to tell an interesting, fleshed-out story. As I edit, I absolutely anticipate filling in some gaps I might not now know that I am still missing. I only wrote like 4 whole words yesterday, but it was the last day my parents were here, so I didn't let it get me too panicked. I normally don't like to let off the pedal for fear of not getting back in the groove. I want to keep pumping out scenes, allowing me to find more of the story's complexities along the way.
I hope to hit 50k next week, take the weekend off for a family trip and then finish the story through the end of the month, maybe longer and possibly start editing in December. Whatever number it ends up being, will be.

I don't like this story as much as my previous two novels, which bums me out. At this point, I can't see myself editing it in May/June like I have for the free copies I got for my 2013 and 2014 novels. (This isn't a huge deal, since I have 7 completed novels and only 4 have gotten a second draft.) I do like it enough that I will see it through to 50,000. I'm about to start torturing my MC, which will be fun and hopefully make the story a bit more interesting to me.

I'm glad you'll have more free time now Pom. Hitting 50k next week is a great goal and you've been doing so well, especially for somebody with house guests.
I always find a bit of terrible stuff being thrown at a character is fun to write kangaroo11. I also have at least one book that I like the idea of but have no idea how to execute so it is sitting, untouched, since I did it in Camp last year. Maybe I'll get back to it someday.
I hit 50k at 8:32 tonight. It's the second earliest I've ever pulled it off (my record was from 2010, the year I hit 101k in November.) This year's 50000th word was Perception. I make note of my 50000th every year and it's interesting to see how some are interesting (ex. expensive, Antonin) but some are really dull (ex. and, the)
I'm taking a break tonight to read and reflect on what I want my characters to do next. I've basically written as much as I'd originally fleshed out in my head before November 1, so now's a good time to figure out how this story is going to develop and (eventually) end.
I just hit 21676 so I'm totally on target for 50k, but I think my story is going to be much longer than that. I'm definitely not half way through all of my plot points.... so I need to pick it up! I want to finish in November! I'm going to write a bit more tonight then try to really crank it out this weekend. I'm going to a write in tomorrow morning. Then we have DOKN on Sunday, but I also have Book Club and I can't decide which one I want to go to. The DOKN party is about an hour away and, well, I just don't want to drive all day Sunday... but then I need to get some good writing time in at home which is harder on the weekends. Blah I need to just go write and not contemplate this now, lol.

If I even finish this one to 50k, I'm going to have to fully rewrite it I think. The emotion's just not there. But I'm determined to finish this bad boy, so I'll keep following my outline and keep plugging alone. I didn't write anything yesterday because I needed a break. I'm about 400 words short of 20k. BLAH.
At 26332. My goal is to get up to 30k today. I've already done 4K so about half way to my daily goal. This week is going to be busy for me so I want to get ahead of it
anastasia517 how are you done already?! I was looking at my writing buddies and you're little bar is already green! I'm jealous!
I always have a 5k+ day 1 to start getting ahead. I started out riding the week 1 high and eventually started to see if I could keep my daily average above 4k (it fell below last week and will remain there, I can assure you). Eventually I just wanted to see if I could beat some of my personal bests.
There's also the fact that my sister and I always compete against each other and she had a really strong first few days so I just tried to catch up.
