Honestly, I was very disappointed with the Wii-U. It's $300 for basically the same exact system, with a much smaller game library, and it's not backwards compatible for Gamecube games. Last April I got the bundle with Super Mario 3D World, and it just isn't my style. H is bored with the system, with the exception of using the gamepad to watch Youtube videos on the TV - which loses its novelty pretty quick. We also have Mario Kart 8 and New Super Mario Bros U. The latter is fun, but definitely just a regurgitation of the same title on the regular Wii. Mario Kart 8 is fun, and we did spend some time on that, but my H beat the game quickly and that was pretty much that. We have no one to play with on the online mode, so it's just the two of us.
I got a few other games from the library thinking H might like them - Bayonetta 2, the Luigi bros thing - but he was underwhelmed. Recently I got Hyrule Warriors because he expressed interest in that, and I hope he enjoys it.
We were both huge fans of the Wii and liked many titles in the game library. We played for years and it still held our interest. New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart Wii, Boom Blox, Rayman Raving Rabids, Fortune Street, Monster Hunter III, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, along with about 5 or 6 Gamecube Games - it was a lot of fun. The Wii-U isn't worth the money, in my opinion. All they did was add a clunky gamepad and a few recycled titles and called it a new system.
